Entering Search Criteria for Patient Lookup
You can search for a person or patient on the People Lookup and Patient Lookup windows. You can use multiple parameters for the search criteria. For example, you can enter a part of the last name, first name, and birth date.
When you search by name (Last, First, Preferred, Middle, Previous Last, Mother's Maiden Name), you can use an asterisk as a wild card character as follows:
- *abc: searches for names that start with any letter or letters, followed by abc.
- Ab*c: searches for names that start with Ab, followed by any letter or letters, followed by c.
- Abc* searches for names that start with Abc, followed by any letter or letters.
When the People Lookup or Patient Lookup window first opens in NextGen® Enterprise EHR, the cursor appears on the field selected as the Initial field in your user Preferences, General tab. In NextGen® Enterprise PM, the cursor appears on the field selected as the Start location for cursor on chart/patient lookup in your General User Preferences, General tab.
Some search fields on the Patient Lookup window are not available on the People Lookup window in NextGen® Enterprise PM. Other search fields are available only on the Patient Lookup window in NextGen® Optical Management.
