In NextGen® Enterprise PM, do one of the following to open the Patient Lookup window:
On the main toolbar, select Chart.
From the Tasks menu, select Lookup > Charts.
Enter the details in the Search Criteria fields to find the desired person or patient.
You can use multiple parameters. For example, you can enter part of the last and first names, and birth date.
Note: Fields with the indicator are for direct match searches and cannot be used with other search criteria.
Select Find.
Note: : If you are connected to an external system, such as the EMPI Query Interaction System (EMPI QIS), the NextGen database is searched first. If no matching records are found, the external system is also searched.
All existing person and patient records that match the search criteria appear in Matching Records.
From the Matching Records list, you can do the following:
Customize the lookup results.
Select right-click menu options to perform specific tasks.
Set up quick access to an active patient.
To perform a new search using different criteria, select Clear.
To add a person or patient after verifying a record does not already exist, select New.
To close the window without selecting a person or patient, select Close.
To select a person or patient in the Matching Records list, do one of the following:
Highlight the person or patient, and then select Open.
Double-click the person or patient.
If a person is selected, the Add Patient Information window opens.
If a patient is selected, the patient's chart opens.
If a person is selected, the Add Patient Information window opens.
If a patient is selected, the patient's chart opens.
Right-Click Menu Options in NextGen Enterprise PM You can add a patient, open the patient's chart, eligibility inquiry, new referral, referral history, or patient history for the patient using context menu options.
You can quickly open a previous patient's record to add appointments or make payments.
Setting Active Patients in NextGen Enterprise PM You can set a patient record as active and then quickly access the active record details for performing operations such as adding appointments or making payments.
