Electronic Prescribing (eRx) Refill Requests

When you electronically submit patient medication prescriptions to a pharmacy, you may receive a refill request from that pharmacy. These refill requests are unsolicited and until you respond to a request, you have no other interaction with the pharmacy that requested the refill. Each refill request creates a task in the Workflow module and the Manage Refills window in the Medications module. NextGen® Enterprise EHR evaluates the status of the medication in the patient's chart. If the request can be matched to an existing patient, the information appears with the option to approve or deny the request. Generate the End of Day Prescriptions Report

From the File menu, select Reports > Crystal Reports. The Report Dialog window opens. Report Dialog Select the plus sign next to the All encounters for All Patient type to view all of the reports assigned to this type. Select the End of Day Prescriptions report. Report Dialog The details of the report appear at the bottom of the window. To preview the report select Preview. To print the report, select Print. The Enter Parameter Values window opens. Save the End of Day Report

From the File menu, select Reports > Crystal Reports. The Report Dialog window opens. Report Dialog Select Report Setup. The Report Setup Dialog window opens. Report Setup Dialog From the Report File list, select prescription end of day.rpt. From the Report Type list, select All encounters for All Patients. Select the location for your report. Only providers at the location you select can access this report. If you leave the Location field blank, providers from all locations can access this report. From the Printer list, select a printer to print the report. In the Description field, enter a description for the report. This description appears in the Report Print Dialog window. Printing Patient Prescriptions

You can print a prescription to hand over to the patient. The following apply: If you print or fax a controlled substance prescription, you can no longer ePrescribe the prescription. If you ePrescribe a controlled substance, you can print or fax the prescription. The printed or faxed report must indicate that the printed or faxed copy is "not for dispensing." If you ePrescribe a controlled substance and the transmission fails, you can print or fax the prescription. The printed or faxed report must display a message that states the prescription was originally sent electronically to a pharmacy. The pharmacy’s name, and the date and time of the eRx message must display. The message must also show that the eRx message failed. If the Verify PIN Universal Preference is set to True, you are required to provide Medication Verification when printing a patient prescription. Set Up ePrescribing for a Provider in Ohio

If you are a provider in the state of Ohio, you must enter additional details to set up ePrescribing. In System Administrator, from the Main menu, select View > Universal Preferences > ePrescribing. Double-click the Ohio ePrescribing Validation preference. In the Ohio ePrescribing Validation window, select True. Ohio ePrescribing Validation Select OK. In File Maintenance, from Master Files > System, select Providers. The Providers List window opens. Double-click the provider you want to enroll. On the Modify Provider Information window, select the System tab. Enter your Certificate to Prescribe (CTP) number in the Other License field.
