TX Text	.doc .docx .rtf .txt	TX Text is the default viewer for all patient documents. It is also the default viewer for documents in Rich Text Format (RTF) and plain text format that are attached to patient encounters/categories in NextGen® Enterprise EHR through the Document Monitor utility. Note: NextGen® Healthcare recommends using the TX Text viewer for all supported document formats. The ability to insert addendums and lab results in a patient document is available with this viewer only.
Word Application	.doc .docx .hed .rtf .txt	Note: To use this viewer, you must have Microsoft® Word installed and the Browse in the same window option enabled in Microsoft® Windows®. This option does not appear if Microsoft® Word is not installed. Support of Microsoft® Word as a viewer is dependent on functionality provided by the Microsoft® Corporation. Some versions of Microsoft® Word may not support embedding within a third-party application such as NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Feature support within Microsoft® Word is determined by the Microsoft® Corporation. Removal of specific features in versions of Microsoft® Word can result in altered or lost document content. CAUTION: The following NextGen® Enterprise EHR features are not supported (or are partially supported) in the Word Application viewer: Document signoff (run-time electronic signature for documents approved in PAQ) Read-only functionality (documents that were signed off and "locked") NextGen® Enterprise EHR right-click menu (standard Microsoft® Word right-click menu is available instead) Export of patient documents Insert patient images Insert lab results (not supported) Features supported by Microsoft® Word that are not supported by NextGen® Enterprise EHR include but are not limited to the following: Negative indent Extending items outside of the Header bounds (availability may vary based on specific Microsoft® Word version) XML Tags (partial support - NextGen® Enterprise EHR removes the XML tags, but the text is displayed in TX Text document viewer) Check box, drop-down list, and edit fields (partial support - NextGen® Enterprise EHR removes the controls, but the text is displayed in the TX Text document viewer)

Attach Addendums to Patient Document

Before you begin To use addendums, the following settings are required in the System Administrator application: The Save As RTF Universal Preference must be set to False. Under Operations Rights / EHR Documents/Add Document Addendums, your user Access Rights must be set to Yes. The TX Text viewer enables you to attach an addendum to a signed-off patient document, if you have permission to do so. You can attach multiple addendums to a single patient document. The addendum feature is not available in the HighEdit or Word Application viewer. Note: You can attach an addendum to a third-party patient document after you sign off on it. If an update is received for the patient document, and document archiving is enabled, the updated document is sent to the NextGen® Clinical Message Manager. The update does not automatically overwrite the original document and any attached addendum. NextGen® Enterprise EHR provides the following three document viewers for use with different document formats. You can specify document viewers under NextGen® Enterprise EHR Documents Preferences. Your system administrator can help you determine which viewers are appropriate for your practice. Patient Documents

Patient documents in NextGen® Enterprise EHR can be a medical or lab report, a referral form, a professional letter, or any other custom-designed form. You can generate new patient documents from previously created user-defined format documents in the Document Builder. When a patient document is generated, macros in format documents insert data from selected template fields. A patient document can be created locally or remotely on a remote workstation. The patient documents are attached to the applicable encounter in the patient's chart. The patient's chart may also contain documents created outside Document Builder. Third-party documents are imported through the NextGen® Interface Engine Document Import Agent. NextGen® Health Information Exchange (HIE) and Continuity-of-Care (CCD) documents are attached to the NextGen® HIE Documents Category of the Categories tab. Document Generation Results

If document generation is successful, NextGen® Enterprise EHR generates the selected document using all the available data. The system applies any options you selected. The generated document is displayed in the designated document viewer. You can view user and file information for the document, print it, or fax it. To change the generated document, you can enter information directly into it, and adjust the font, size, and other formatting styles as required. The TX Text viewer highlights any detected text errors. The TX Text viewer enables you to: Identify and fix invalid margin conditions Include selected lab and radiology results in the document Select other actions from the viewer toolbars and document menu Identify text detected with possible errors by a red-dotted underline Select an option to remove a duplicate word To save the document, you can select the Save icon on the NextGen® Enterprise EHR Top Toolbar.
