Assign Patient Aliases

You can assign an alias name to a patient in the database to protect the patients' confidentiality. Users who do not have rights to view a patient name can work with a patient information by using the alias. Consider creating an alias name for all of the patients in your system if most users do not have permission to view patient names.
  1. From the File menu, select Family Unit and then Alias Setup.
    The Alias Setup window opens.

  2. Search for the patient to create or change the alias name for.
    • Enter either the last or first name or both names in the Name fields or the alias in the Alias field, and select Search.
    • To display all patients, select Search without entering any information.

  3. To start a new search, select Clear and repeat the previous step.
  4. To create or edit an alias name, select the patient name in the display window.
  5. Double-click the patient name, or select Edit.
An edit box appears in the Alias column.
  6. Enter an alias name, and select the <ENTER> key on your keyboard.
The edited alias appears in the Alias field at the top of the window.

  7. To save changes, select OK.
