You can assign an alias name to a patient in the database to protect the patients' confidentiality. Users who do not have rights to view a patient name can work with a patient information by using the alias. Consider creating an alias name for all of the patients in your system if most users do not have permission to view patient names.
- From the File menu, select Family Unit and then Alias Setup.
The
Alias Setup window opens.
- Search for the patient to create or change the alias name for.
- Enter either the last or first name or both names in the Name fields or the alias in the Alias field, and select Search.
- To display all patients, select Search without entering any information.
- To start a new search, select Clear and repeat the previous step.
- To create or edit an alias name, select the patient name in the display window.
- Double-click the patient name, or select Edit.
An edit box appears in the Alias column.
- Enter an alias name, and select the <ENTER> key on your keyboard.
The edited alias appears in the
Alias field at the top of the window.
Note: Make sure that you enter a unique alias name. The application is set up to alert you of a duplicate alias name only after you select OK.
- To save changes, select OK.
