Set Up New Patient Groups

Before you begin Before you can use the patient group feature, you must set up at least one patient group and at least one Medical Records Group template or Medical Records Group Popup template. After you create a patient group, you can create a group encounter and then access the group template to enter relevant details for the group encounter. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Select File > Patient Group. In the Patient Group window, select New Group. In the New Patient Group window, enter the group name and notes, if applicable. Select Add. From the Patient Group list in the Patient Group window, select the group you created. Available patients appear in the Non-Member Patients section. You can search for specific patients or for all patients for a selected provider. To search for all patients for a provider, do the following: Enter the provider's last, first, and middle name. From the Search by list, select Provider. Select Search. Matching providers appear in the Non-Member Patients s

Add Members to a Patient Group

The Members tab on the Patient Group window enables you to add patients with charts to the group. When you add a person without a chart, you are prompted to create their chart during the process. You can also manage existing future group appointments for the added members. Access Patient Groups.The Patient Group Search window opens. Search for a Patient Group. From the Matching Records section of the Patient Group Search window, select a group and then do one of the following: Select Open. Select Open Menu and select Open. Right-click and select Open. Select the Members tab. Note: Programs display for a patient when their Program Enrollment Date is on or before the current system date (today) and their Program Discharge Date is on or after the current system date or blank. The Member List displays all patients in the group with the following information: Name Birth Date Home Phone Medical Record Number Date Added Programs Expired Indicator (Y or N); Expired patients display in red text

The Members tab on the Patient Group window enables you to transfer patients from the group to another group. You can also manage existing future group appointments for the transferred members. Access Patient Groups. The Patient Group Search window opens. Search for a Patient Group. From the Matching Records section of the Patient Group Search window, select a group and then do one of the following: Select Open. Select Open Menu and select Open. Right-click and select Open. The Patient Group window opens. Select the Members tab. The Member List displays all patients in the group To transfer a member to another group, select the check box for the patient and then select Open Menu and select Transfer Member. Note: You can transfer multiple members at the same time by selecting the check box for two or more patients before selecting Open Menu and selecting Transfer Member.
