Select Diagnosis Panel

In the Select Diagnosis panel of the Select Tests tab, you can select one or more diagnoses to be associated with the tests ordered. The list of diagnoses is pulled from the patient's chart. AOE Questions and Selected Tests

When you select a test that has AOE questions associated with it, a button displays by the test name in the Assign Diagnosis to Selected Tests panel. Selecting the button opens the Test Details tab where you see one or more AOE questions associated with this test appear. Assigning or Unassigning a Diagnosis to a Test

The selection(s) chosen in the Select Diagnosis section and the Assign Diagnosis to Selected Tests panel work together. In the Assign Diagnosis to Selected Tests panel, if you select Assign All Diagnosis, it assigns each diagnosis selected in the Select Diagnosis panel to all tests selected for this order. Assign Diagnosis Toolbar

The following options are available on the Assign Diagnosis to Selected Tests panel. Option Description Check Medical Necessity This option appears if you are licensed to use the NextGen® Medical Necessity Check. Certain government insurances (Medicare part B) require approval of a test's necessity before it can be ordered and paid for. The NextGen® Medical Necessity Check uses a defined list of tests that are linked to medical problems. The list is updated quarterly. When selected, this option runs the NextGen® Medical Necessity Check against the tests and diagnosis codes selected. File Maintenance setup is required to make the NextGen® Medical Necessity Check available. Delete Failed Tests This option appears if you are licensed to use the NextGen® Medical Necessity Check. When selected, this option removes tests from the order that have failed the medical necessity check. Delete Test Removes the selected test from this order. Assign Questions to Ask When Ordering Tests

After a set of AOE questions has been defined for your database, you can assign them to one or more tests. For tests that have questions assigned, the Order module prompts the user to answer the questions before the new test order can be sent to the testing entity. Select File Maintenance > Master Files > EHR > Order Tests. Do one of the following: Select System and enter a lab system name. Select Description and enter part of the test description. Select a test from the list of returned tests. Select the Options tab. Select the folder next to Ask at Order Entry Questions. Then, in the Available section, select one of the available AOE questions in your database. Select the arrow to move that test to the Included section. To save questions with the order test, select OK. Select OK to save this updated test and close the Modify Order Test Information window. Parent topic: Orders Setup and Maintenance
