Meaningful Use Compliance

Stage 2 Meaningful Use (MU2) requires that providers should have access to additional information on diagnoses, medications, procedures, allergies, lab tests, values and results, demographics, and vital signs. To comply with this requirement, information is available in NextGen® Enterprise EHR with the HL7 context-aware knowledge retrieval InfoButton. The InfoButton, accessible in NextGen® Enterprise EHR through External Patient Education and Clinical Decision Support, provides access to external references for context-sensitive information from various NextGen® Enterprise EHR modules. These external educational references are available together with provider-specific External Provider Reference, Healthwise® Patient Education material, and the Drug Monograph used by the Medications module. Healthwise Patient Education

The Healthwise Patient Education Module is a third-party software package used in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. This module enables you to access educational material that covers a variety of health topics that you can print and hand over to patients. For more information on installation and setup of Healthwise Patient Education and features available in the Healthwise Patient Education Browser, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest Healthwise Patient Education User Guide for NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open Patient Education Browser You can open the Patient Education Browser window to search for patient education resources. Patient Education Browser

With Healthwise Patient Education installed in NextGen® Enterprise EHR, you can perform the following: Access Patient Education Browser to search for internal and external patient education material. Perform context-sensitive searches of Healthwise Patient Education and practice defined patient education material in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Access Healthwise Knowledgebase through the internal browser. Save patient education material to a patient's chart or a patient's NextGen® PxP Portal account. Delete the saved patient education documents on an unlocked encounter in the Encounter History. Open Patient Education Browser You can open the Patient Education Browser window to search for patient education resources. Find a Topic by Entering Search Criteria You can use various filters in internal or external sources to refine your search for patient education topics. Toggle Between Healthwise Patient Education and Knowledgebase

When you have a topic open in the Patient Education Browser window, you can select Knowledgebase to view more information on the topic. The Knowledgebase displays search results based on a reference code associated with the Healthwise Patient Education search. The Healthwise Knowledgebase is an online health resource and encyclopedia providing information about medical conditions, symptoms, and treatments. Note: NextGen Healthcare recommends that you add the Healthwise website to the list of trusted sites in the Microsoft® Internet Explorer to view the Knowledgebase search results. For information about adding websites to the list of trusted sites, see the Microsoft Internet Explorer Help. Open Patient Education Browser. Search for a topic either manually or by using the Search pane. Select the desired search result. The patient education topic appears in the display pane. Select Knowledgebase to access Healthwise Knowledgebase. The Knowledgebase search results appear. Select a result

Access Internal Patient Education from the Procedures Module

You can use the Resources feature to access internal and external patient education resources in the Procedures module. Internal patient education resources link directly to your Healthwise Patient Education, while there are a number of external resources also available. Education material relate directly to the procedure using the context-sensitive search for the ICD code associated with the procedure. Using the Billing ICD List tab of the Problems module, you can perform context-sensitive search for patient education material with the ICD code reference. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open a patient record. Access a procedure in the patient chart. Right-click the procedure and select Resources. Select Internal Patient Education. The Patient Education Browser window appears with the Search Criteria populated by the ICD code. The age and gender of the patient filter is also updated. Parent topic: Healthwise Patient Education
