Keyboard Shortcuts

Keys	Function
Alt+L	Opens a Patient Lookup window to search for a patient during the filing process from the File window.
Alt+F	Files a document from the File window.
Alt+N	Moves to the next page in the document from within the viewer.
Ctrl+T	Accesses the Create Task window from within the viewer.
Ctrl+Shift+F9	Inserts the prevoius patient information into the fields in the File window during the filing process.

Keyboard Shortcuts

NextGen® Enterprise EHR enables users to use a number of keyboard shortcuts. Keyboard Shortcut Description Ctrl + C Copies the selection onto the Windows Clipboard. Alt + L Logs off the application. Alt + M Toggles the display of the Top toolbar. Alt + P Opens the Patient Lookup window. Ctrl + S Saves the action. Alt + F3 Opens the Workflow module. Ctrl + X Cuts the selection. Ctrl + Z Used to undo the previous step. Alt + X Exits from the application. F8 Opens the PAQ. Alt + F5 Opens the User Workgroups window. Ctrl + V Pastes the selection from the Windows Clipboard. Using Keyboard in Person and Patient Information Windows

If you want to use keyboard to use Person Information and Patient Information windows, you can select the Tab key to move forward to the next field, or select the Shift and Tab keys to move back to the previous field. You can also move to a specific tab or button on the window by using a hot-key command. You can select Alt and hot-key to switch to a specific tab or button. For example, you can select Alt and P to open the Provider tab. Navigating the Patient Group Search Window

You can navigate through the Patient Group Search window by pressing the Tab key to move forward to the next field, or by pressing the Shift and Tab keys to move back to the previous field. You can also navigate to a specific button on the window by using a hot-key command. Press the Alt key to display an underlined letter on all buttons. The underlined letters are the hot-key commands. Then press Alt and a Letter to navigate to that specific button. For example, pressing Alt and F navigates to the Find button. Hot-Key Commands Alt + Navigates to: L Clear button F Find button N New button O Open button C Close button The default sort for records listed in the Matching Records section at the bottom of the window is ascending order by Group Name. You can change the sort by selecting any column header to resort the records by that column in ascending or descending order. In addition, you can rearrange and resize any column. Navigation and Documentation Shortcuts

You can configure certain settings that reduce the number of steps and amount of typing you must do to complete a patient’s documentation. Some of the helpful tools are: Template links that open frequently used templates QuickPicks that save standard template entries Get Data to copy template entries from a previous encounter My Phrases that save frequently-used phrases Quick Add so you can quickly enter data into a series of fields Sub Navigation Links QuickPick Toolbar Quickpick toolbar overview Use Get Data Comments My Phrases You can save phrases in a list for your own use.
