Annotate Documents and Images

In NextGen® Document Management image viewer, you can attach the following to documents and images without editing the actual content:
  • Signifying arrows
  • Text redaction bars
  • Text highlighting
  • Text-based annotations
  1. Open NextGen® Document Management.
  2. On the toolbar, select Search, and then search for the documents or images.
    The Matching Records grid displays the list of patients who are associated with images that match your search results.
  3. Double-click a patient record to open its associated images in the Search Results For: window, and then double-click the image you want to view.
    The NextGen® Document Management viewer displays the image.
  4. On the image viewer toolbar, select the annotation icon.
    You can select the annotation color, font, and font size in the User Preferences window.

  5. To add arrows, from the annotation toolbox, select the arrow icon, place the cursor on the document, and then select and drag the arrow as necessary.
    You can add text , note , and rtf text to the documents and images.
  6. To add the redaction text, from the annotation toolbox, select the redact icon, place the cursor on the document, and then select and drag the pointer.
  7. To highlight anything in a document or image, from the annotation toolbox, select the highlighter icon, place the cursor on the document, and then select and drag the pointer across the text.
    You can also double-click the arrow to edit the arrow properties.
  8. Optional: To delete an annotation, select the annotation, right-click, and then select Annotation > Delete.
