Add Patient Pre-Printed Barcodes to Existing Form Templates
Before you begin
- Open File Maintenance.
- In Master Files, select System, and then select Form Templates.
- In Form Templates List, double-click the template that you want to add the patient barcodes to.
The Form Design window opens.
- On the toolbar, select Insert Data Field.
The NextGen Data Repository window opens.
- Select the following data fields and drag them onto the form:
- Patient Information > Patient Medical Record # and Person Number (Doc Mgmt Separator).
- Encounter Information > Encounter Number (Doc Mgmt Separator).
Note: Place the data field on the form one inch from the top and left side of the form. Make sure to have a one-inch space between the subsequent data fields. - On the form, right-click one of the data fields, and then select Font > All Data Fields.
The Font window opens.
- Select the WASP 39 MC font, the Regular font style, and the 28 point size.
- Select OK.
All the data fields on the form appear with the same barcode font.
- Enter some text at the top of the form to indicate the document type you want to associate with the separator sheet.
- On the Form Design toolbar, select Save Form Template.
The Save Form Template window opens.
- Enter a form template name that indicates the purpose of the form, and then select OK.
- Optional: Print the form template.

You can scan documents by using the barcodes that already exist on the documents.
