Install the NextGen® Background Business Processor Engine Service

The NextGen® Background Business Processor Engine Service is a program that runs in the background on the computer on which it is installed. Its job is to regularly query the NextGen database to determine if there are any packages to run on the server. To execute the requested processes, the NextGen® Background Business Processor Engine Service launches modules of the NextGen® Enterprise PM application or the Report Server behind the scenes to perform the needed tasks. For example, if you use the NextGen® Background Business Processor Manager to set up pending paper claims to print automatically every day at 3:00 PM, the NextGen® Background Business Processor Engine Service sees the NextGen® Background Business Processor setting recorded in the NextGen database. The NextGen® Background Business Processor Manager acts upon it by launching NextGen® Enterprise PM in the background at 3:00 PM and commanding it to print all pending paper claims. View or Change Server Properties

Select the Server List tab in the NextGen® Background Business Processor Manager. Highlight a server in the list. Select Servers > Open to access the Server Properties window. You can start, stop or pause the NextGen® Background Business Processor Engine service from: The Engine menu on the NextGen® Background Business Processor Manager main toolbar. The list of services in the Services section of the Microsoft Windows Control Panel: Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services Note: You should stop the NextGen® Background Business Processor Engine service on all NextGen® Background Business Processor Servers prior to performing any upgrade.

Configure Servers for NextGen® Background Business Processor

You must select a server for NextGen® Background Business Processor to use when it performs automated NextGen® Enterprise PM processes. To create a server that is eligible for NextGen® Background Business Processor to use, install the NextGen® Background Business Processor Engine service on it. On the Server List tab, the NextGen® Background Business Processor Manager lists each server on the network on which the NextGen® Background Business Processor Engine Service exists. The Server List provides the following information for each NextGen® Background Business Processor Engine Service installation: The domain and server name for the server on which the NextGen® Background Business Processor Engine Service is installed If the service is available If the service is running The last time the service was started and stopped The total duration of the package that it had run last The server capacity percentage A Gantt chart of each package based on the time The package server schedule An op

Log into the NextGen® Background Business Processor Manager on the system that is running the NextGen® Background Business Processor Engine Service. Select the Uninstall Engine Service option from the Engine menu located on the NextGen® Background Business Processor Manager main toolbar. The NextGen® Background Business Processor Manager asks you to confirm the removal. Select Yes. Note: The entry for the server no longer appears in the Server List on the NextGen® Background Business Processor main window or in the list on the Servers tab of the Package Properties window.
