Configure NextGen® Background Business Processor Preferences

Before you can set NextGen® Background Business Processor to automate NextGen® Enterprise PM processes, you must enter some basic application default preferences. Log into the NextGen® Background Business Processor Manager. Select File > Preferences. The BBP System Preferences window opens. In the Excel export process list, select one of the following: To create the export file directly at the specified location on your computer, select Use standard Excel process (most common). To create the export file locally and then copy to the specified location on your computer with the use of NextGen® Background Business Processor, select Create locally, copy destination (rarely used). To choose the default printer, on the Printer field, select the ellipsis button and then select the printer. Note: The list of printers from which you can choose is the same list of printers available to Windows ® operating system on your computer in which NextGen® Background Business Processor is installed. Configure Servers for NextGen® Background Business Processor

You must select a server for NextGen® Background Business Processor to use when it performs automated NextGen® Enterprise PM processes. To create a server that is eligible for NextGen® Background Business Processor to use, install the NextGen® Background Business Processor Engine service on it. On the Server List tab, the NextGen® Background Business Processor Manager lists each server on the network on which the NextGen® Background Business Processor Engine Service exists. The Server List provides the following information for each NextGen® Background Business Processor Engine Service installation: The domain and server name for the server on which the NextGen® Background Business Processor Engine Service is installed If the service is available If the service is running The last time the service was started and stopped The total duration of the package that it had run last The server capacity percentage A Gantt chart of each package based on the time The package server schedule An op

Configure the NextGen® Background Business Processor to Process a Package Immediately

You can quickly create a one-time package schedule for the NextGen® Background Business Processor application to process immediately. Highlight the package in the Package List. Do one of the following: Right-click and select Queue Now from the short-cut menu. Select Queue Now from the Packages menu on the NextGen® Background Business Processor main menu bar. Disable a Schedule

NextGen® Background Business Processor saves each schedule you create for a package. By default, NextGen® Background Business Processor gives each schedule you create a status of Enabled. You can determine which schedule the package uses and which it does not by enabling or disabling the schedules listed on the Schedules tab of the Package Properties window. Select the Schedules tab on the Package Properties window. Do one of the following: Right-click on the schedule you want to deactivate and select Disable from the short-cut menu. Enable Package

The NextGen® Background Business Processor enables all packages by default. A package cannot run unless it is enabled. If a package is enabled, but it has no schedules that are enabled, it cannot run. Likewise, if a package is enabled, but each of its individual jobs are disabled, it cannot run. Highlight the package or packages in the Package List. Do one of the following: Right-click and select Enable from the short-cut menu. Make Servers Available or Unavailable

Packages can run only on servers that are designated as available in the NextGen® Background Business Processor Manager. By default, the NextGen® Background Business Processor makes all servers you add to the Server List available. Select the Server List tab in the NextGen® Background Business Processor Manager. Highlight the server in the list and right-click. Select either Make Available or Make Unavailable from the shortcut menu. Note: Another way to set availability for a server is to select or clear the Available? check box on the Server Properties window.
