NextGen® Background Business Processor Terminology

The following table lists common terms associated with NextGen® Background Business Processor: Term Description Job A task that generates a report or a claim. A job can have more than one action. NextGen® Background Business Processor System Requirements

The NextGen® Background Business Processor server is a fat client running its own instances of NextGen applications. To avoid package and job failures, all NextGen® Background Business Processor servers must be updated to the current version during an upgrade (all end user workstations). The NextGen® Background Business Processor server must meet the following requirements to run all instances of NextGen applications: For Light or Moderate process categories, and for packages that do not run Report Server processes, the following hardware requirements apply in accordance with the NextGen application requirements: Single Processor, 2GB Memory, and any supported operating system in Legacy Mode (x32 bit) For Heavy or Severe process categories, and for packages that run Report Server processes, the following hardware requirements apply in accordance with the NextGen Application requirements: Dual Core Processor, 4GB Memory, and any supported operating system in Legacy Mode (x32 bit) .NET F

Automating Background Processes

The NextGen® Background Business Processor assists you in scheduling packages (tasks that require manual execution) for automatic completion. For example, you can create a package that automatically generates and prints the Daily Balance report at the end of each day. You can configure the NextGen® Background Business Processor to send a notification email after it completes an automated NextGen® Background Business Processor process. You can automate the following NextGen® Enterprise PM processes: Reports Statements Billing encounters Claims generation Collection and Recall letter generation Directory Import Stored procedures Person merge processing RTS eligibility and claim status requests RTS eligibility responses In addition, NextGen® Background Business Processor can run NextGen® Enterprise EHR and NextGen® Enterprise PM memorized reports. The NextGen® Background Business Processor Engine Service is a program that runs in the background on the computer on which it is installed. Its job is to regularly query the NextGen database to determine if there are any packages to run on the server. To execute the requested processes, the NextGen® Background Business Processor Engine Service launches modules of the NextGen® Enterprise PM application or the Report Server behind the scenes to perform the needed tasks. NextGen® Background Business Processor Job Types

NextGen® Background Business Processor job is a task, such as generating a statement or creating an electronic claim. Note: 3500 Statements are executed successfully in 1 statement job. A job can have more than one action. For example, after generating a report, a job can also print the report. You can group jobs together into a package and then apply a schedule to the package. You cannot apply a schedule to an individual job - only to the package to which the job belongs.
