The following table lists common terms associated with NextGen® Background Business Processor:
Term | Description |

Job | A task that generates a report or a claim. A job can have more than one action. For example, after a job generates a report, it can also print the report. |
Package | A collection of one or more jobs. NextGen® Background Business Processor executes packages as per the schedule. NextGen® Background Business Processor executes jobs only when they are part of a package. This means that even if there is only one job that you want NextGen® Background Business Processor to perform, you must create a package to which you can add the job. |
Server | Any computer that is used to execute scheduled packages. A desktop workstation can serve as a NextGen® Background Business Processor server like a dedicated network server. |
Engine Service | A program that runs in the background on the server. It regularly queries the NextGen database to determine if there are any packages to run on the server. |
