Update an Ambulatory Surgery Order

For Ambulatory Surgery patients, if the revised diagnosis is malignant and you enter the updated diagnosis into the Diagnosis field in the Pathology Results section, the same diagnosis appears in the grid on the Biopsy Log and on the Home Page.

  1. Select the Ambulatory Surgery specialty, and perform a search for Ambulatory Surgery orders.
  2. Highlight an Ambulatory Surgery order in the Pathology Orders grid. Information in the row displays in the fields of the Pathology Results section for ambulatory surgery patients.
  3. Click the Accession # field and type the accession number or case number assigned by the laboratory for the specimen.
  4. Click the Site Specific field and select the specimen ID letter assigned to the specimen.
  5. Click the Procedure description field and select the appropriate service item ID and description from the list.
  6. Click the first Diagnosis field and use the diagnosis search tool to select the diagnosis suggested by the laboratory report. Repeat this step for each Diagnosis field as needed.
  7. Type any relevant information in the Findings field.
  8. Type any needed comments in the Comments field.
  9. Click the Recommended Treatment field and select the recommend treatment from the list.
  10. Change any other data as required.
  11. Click Update Order.
