Tobacco Cessation

You can use the Tobacco Cessation template to document the patient's tobacco use and the methods used for tobacco cessation. You can open the Tobacco Cessation template by using the Tobacco Cessation link. The Tobacco Cessation template enables you to document the tobacco history details, complete the medication screening questions, select the methods used for tobacco cessation, add assessments, and select and schedule the recommended treatments. If the patient has a medical condition due to tobacco use, then you can use the Tobacco Cessation template as a stand-alone visit for tobacco cessation. The Submit to Superbill button on the template enables you to submit the charges for the template. Note: For counseling sessions of less than 3 minutes, you can utilize the Risk Factors Config template to document the tobacco cessation discussed with the patient instead of the Tobacco Cessation template. Document the Risk Factors

You can document the risk factors for patients. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. On a patient encounter, open any of the standard visit templates. (for example, the Intake template. On the template header, select Config. The Risk Factors Config template opens. If the patient has no risk factors, select No risk indicators, and select Save & Close. If the patient has a history of tobacco use, do the following: In the Tobacco section, select Tobacco Usage.The Social History - Tobacco template opens. Note: If the tobacco information is updated on the Screening Summary template or on the Risk Factors Config template, the application automatically fills values on the Social History - Tobacco template. Enter data on the Social History - Tobacco template, and select OK. Select the Tobacco Cessation Discussed link.The Tobacco Cessation Discussed template opens. Enter information about the tobacco cessation discussion, and select Save and Close. Select for quality reporting. Save and close the temp

Document Risk Factors

Select the Risk Factors link. The Risk Factors Config template opens. Document Methods of Tobacco Cessation

You can document in-depth evaluation and comprehensive information about a patient's tobacco use and methods for tobacco cessation. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. To open the Social History – Tobacco template, do one of the following: On the Histories template, expand the Social panel, and select Add/Edit. In the History Summary panel on the Intake template, select Social, select Tobacco/Vaping Use, and select Add/Edit. The Social History – Tobacco template opens. Expand Efforts To Quit Tobacco. From the Tobacco Cessation Information section, select the Tobacco cessation discussed link. You can also access this link from other templates. The Tobacco Cessation Discussed window opens. Tobacco Cessation Discussed To select one or multiple discussion, do one of the following: Select Single select/Close to select only one discussion item. You can document the patient's current or past tobacco use information. You can document the patient's tobacco cessation efforts, vaping use details, and exposure to passive tobacco smoke in the following panels on the Social History - Tobacco template. Tobacco Use Historical Use Efforts To Quit Tobacco Vaping Use Passive Exposure Social History - Tobacco You can open the Social History – Tobacco template through the navigation bar, the History Summary panel on the Intake template, the Social panel on the Histories template, or the Risk Factors Config template.
