Set Up Template Preferences

You can configure the default and preferred templates to automatically open the templates for an encounter. You can also configure the workflow after opening an encounter from the Workflow Appointment list. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Select Tools > Preferences. The Preferences window opens. Preferences window Select the Templates tab. To move a commonly used template in the preferred list, select the template in the Available Templates list and then select the right arrow. The selected template appears in the Preferred Templates list. To select all templates, select the double-right arrow. To set a default template, from the Default Template list, select a template. Note: NextGen Healthcare recommends setting the Home Page (fts_home_page) template as a default template which provides a clinical summary of the patient to the provider. Open Orthopedic Home Page

When you open the Home Page - ORT template, ensure to select the specialty and visit type to access the framework template set for Orthopedic. Select a patient. To open the Templates module on a patient encounter, do one of the following: On the Categories or Encounter History tab, select Open Template. On Top Toolbar, select Templates . On the main menu, select File > New > Template. The Select Template window opens. Select Medical Records and select All to display the list of templates in the Show section. Home Page Template

The recommended workflow for the Family Practice specialty is to begin a patient encounter on the Home Page template. If you have set up the Home Page template as the default template, it opens as the first template for a new encounter. Set Home Page as the Default Template

The recommended workflow for the Ambulatory Surgery specialty is to begin a patient encounter on the Home Page - Ambulatory Surgery template. You can either open the generic Home Page - Ambulatory Surgery template from the Templates module or set it up as the default template that automatically launches as the first template for a new encounter. In NextGen® Enterprise EHR, click Tools and select Preference from the top menu bar to open the Preferences template. Preferences Click the Templates tab. From the Default Template list, select gi_home_page. Home Page Click Apply and then click OK to save the new preference. When you open a new encounter in NextGen® Enterprise EHR, the Home Page - Ambulatory Surgery launches and displays the Udp Visit Types list to select a visit type. Access the Home Template

You can open the Home template to begin workflows on the NextGen® Orthopedic Suite. If you set up the Home template as the default template in the NextGen® Enterprise EHR user preferences, it will automatically open as the first template for new workflow appointments. You can also manually open this template from the Patient History bar. Open the NextGen® Enterprise EHR application. Select the desired patient record. To open Home template from Inbox, do the following: Click the Inbox Task icon icon. The Workflow window opens. Workflow window Double-click the desired appointment in the appointment grid.
