Review and Update Diagnostic Tests using the Historical Test – Quick Entry Template

You can review and update the historical tests performed previously for a patient using the Historical Test - Quick Entry template.

Using the Historical Test – Quick Entry template, you can review, update, and comment on items that were entered by other staff members.

To update diagnostic tests, do the following:

  1. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR.
  2. Select the Care Guidelines link on any of the main template.
    The Care Guidelines Paged View template opens.
  3. In the Care Guidelines panel, select the Grid View link.
    The Care Guidelines grid view template opens.
  4. Select a appropriate study item in the Care Guidelines panel grid.
    Details for the guideline fill in the fields.

    Items with status due are ordered, such as labs and diagnostic studies.

  5. In the Status field above the grid, select the status completed or performed elsewhere.
    The Historical Test – Quick Entry template opens.
  6. On the left side, select the appropriate test.

    The test description and orderable code values automatically appear in the corresponding fields.

    • Test codes that are mapped to LOINC® or SNOMED® codes, display those codes on the right.

    • Test codes that are not mapped to LOINC® or SNOMED® codes display a message that the selected test does not meet CMS quality measures.

  7. Select the Date done on which the test was performed.
  8. Select the Approx check box to indicate that the date is approximate.
  9. Enter an Interpretation using text.
  10. Enter Results using text.
  11. Select Save & Add New.
    The diagnostic test is saved and uploaded to the Historical tests/exams data grid.
  12. Select OK to return to the Care Guidelines template.
