Enter, Review and Update Historical Test Performed Previously using the Diagnostic History Entry Template

You can use either of the two workflows to enter, review, and update historical tests performed previously.

On the Diagnostic Studies Entry template, you can review, update, comment on items that were entered by other staff members. The advantage of using the Historical Test Quick Entry template is that the workflow is condensed.
  1. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR.
  2. Select the Care Guidelines link on any of the main template.
    The Care Guidelines Paged View template opens.
  3. In the Care Guidelines panel, select the Grid View link.
    The Care Guidelines grid view template opens.
  4. In the Care Guidelines panel, select the Diagnostics link.
    The Diagnostic History Entries template opens.
    Diagnostic History Entry

    The diagnostics history grid displays historical information for diagnostic studies performed.

  5. To add diagnostic history, do the following:
    • In the Diagnostic study type field, select a study type from the list.
    • In the Diagnostic study field, select an option from the list.
    • The Procedure code in the Study Performed section appears automatically.
    • Select the Ordered elsewhere check box, if the study was ordered elsewhere.
    • Use the fields in the Study Date section to document location where study was performed, specialty, and who performed the study.
    • Use the fields in the Study Result section to document the results and interpretation for the study.
      • Interpretation is a one-word statement of what the result is, normal or abnormal.
      • Result is text field for entering a detailed result, opened when you select the Detail button or the comment generated when the See scanned report check box is selected.
    • Select Detail to select a numerical result.
    • Select Comments field to add additional comments.
    • Select Add to Grid and, then select OK.
  6. To view diagnostic history information in detail, select a diagnostic study displayed in a row in the grid.

  7. To update any diagnostic history details, select a diagnostic study from the grid, and do the following:
    • Use the fields in the Diagnostics History grid to make any modifications to the study details.
    • Select Update, and then select OK.
