Create a DME Order

Outside DME (Durable Medical Equipment) can be documented on the Pt Dme template. The Pt DME template can also be launched from the Outside DME Order link in the navigation bar. On the Objective tab, navigate to the Documents and Printing panel. Click the DME button to open the Pt DME template. Pt Dme Highlight an assessment in the grid located in the Encounter Diagnoses section to associate with the order. Note: An alert message appears if you attempt to enter a DME type without previously selecting an assessment. Select medical equipment by category of Assistive devices, Supplies, and Splints. Click the Assistive Devices field and select from the picklist. The service item CPT code and ICD code appear in their respective fields automatically. If appropriate, click the Side field and select from the picklist. Repeat step 4 until all items have been selected. Document the Prognosis by selecting one of the available options. The Documents and Printing panel on the Objective template enables you to document and print an order for a work note or durable medical equipment (DME), and preview and/or print encounter related documents. Add External Equipment

You can add durable medical equipment (DME) that must be purchased from external sources. Open the Home or any other applicable template, select Orders from the upper navigation bar, and then select Single Order or External DME. In the External DME template or the External DME panel of the Single Order template, right-click the Item grid, and then select Add New. The IORTSdme_master_extDME window opens. Document Details of External Equipment

You can document the order details for durable medical equipment (DME) that must be purchased from external sources for orthopedic patients. Open the Home or any other applicable template, select Orders from the upper navigation bar, and then select Single Order. Expand the External DME panel. Select the item to order from the Item grid. The selected item appears in the Item field. Note: You can add, update, and delete items in the Item grid. By default, the current date appears in Date. Select the duration of the item, the date of the injury, and the date of surgery. Enter the reason for the order. Order External Equipment in the External DME Template

You can order durable medical equipment (DME) from external sources for orthopedic patients. Open the Home or any other applicable template, select Orders from the upper navigation bar, and then select External DME. The External DME template opens. To add diagnoses and procedures for the order, select Dx & Px. Note: Selecting procedures is optional; however, you must select at least one diagnosis to order equipment. Select the item to order from the Item grid. The selected item appears in the Item field. Note: You can add, update, and delete items in the Item grid. By default, the current date appears in Date. Select the duration of the item, the date of the injury, and the date of surgery. Enter the reason for the order. Select Place Order. Generate a Note
