Test the Workflow with the New Mappings

You can verify the workflow with the new mappings added to the practice templates. The final step is to verify (in a test environment) that the codes and descriptions that are added to the practice templates update patient guidelines as expected. If there are multiple areas where users may place orders or update patient history in the course of a workflow, it is important to check all areas to ensure that all possible codes are accounted for and entered on these templates. The steps mapping test codes and descriptions to guidelines can be repeated as many times as needed to make sure that all practice orders are documented. Obtaining Test or Code Information to be Mapped

You can obtain test or code information to map with the corresponding care guidelines on the practice templates. If it is available, obtain a list of the specific CPT® or test codes and descriptions that are used by your practice for each guideline. If the list is not available, you can review the procedures in this step to gather the codes and descriptions that are required to map the tests to guidelines. After the information is gathered, the tests can then be mapped to the corresponding guideline. Note: After you have the information for the test codes and descriptions to be mapped to corresponding care guidelines, you can proceed to mapping the codes on the practice templates. Map the Test or Code Information on the Care Guidelines Setup Practice Template

You can map the test or code information using the Care Guidelines Setup practice template. Practices can map test codes and descriptions to guidelines on the Interventions/Test Equivalent Codes/Descriptions panel of the Care Guidelines Setup practice template. You can specify items as exact equivalents and make items orderable on the Care Guidelines Paged View and the Care Guidelines grid view templates. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. From File, select System \ Practice Template. The Select Template window opens. On the Practice tab, select the All option. Select Care Guideline Setup, and then select OK. The Care Guideline Setup practice template opens. Expand the Interventions/Test Equivalent Codes/Descriptions panel. Select the test name to be mapped from the list. Add the test information in the Intervention Equivalents. Mapping Procedure Module Codes in NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine 8.4.x and Later

You can map codes to data sets that are configured using the Data Sets Setup practice template. When mapping codes that are submitted to the Procedures module, it is important to note that these mappings are added in a completely separate data set from those for standard office procedure, lab, and diagnostic orders that are configured with the Test Codes data set on the Data Sets Setup practice template or on the Care Guidelines Setup practice template in the Interventions/Test Equivalent Codes/Descriptions panel. Additionally, this functionality is only available in the NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine 8.4.x series and later. Set Up Tests and Orders to Update Care Guidelines

You can set up tests and orders to update care guidelines for a patient. A care guideline status is updated to completed when all of the following conditions are met: The ordering code (or description) is added to the guideline's list of Interventions/Test Equivalent Codes/Descriptions. The completed order type for the patient matches with the guideline type that is set. For example, lab guidelines will only update from lab orders. The order has both a valid Completed Date or Received Date along with a Completed or Results Received status. Mapping can be used to set up tests and orders to update guidelines, simplifying workflow in the process. These mapping procedures can be used by the care guidelines that comes shipped with NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine 8.3.x, 8.4.x and later.
