Associate LOINC Code with Procedure Code

On the Data Sets Setup template, click Data Set and select LOINC Codes. The existing data set items associated with the LOINC Codes data set appear in the grid. LOINC Codes data set Click Add. The Template Data Sets Setup – [New Record] template opens. Template Data Sets Setup If applicable, click Diagnosis description to search and select a diagnosis. The associated diagnosis code automatically populates. If applicable, click Provider and select a provider from Dbp Rendering Provider. In Code, enter LOINC code. In System, enter the code type. For example, LOINC to indicate that the code is LOINC code. In Procedure Code, enter CPT or NextGen Compendium Test keys. In Description, enter the description of the procedure code. Click Save, and then click Close. The newly configured data set item displays in the Data Sets Setup template. LOINC Codes

After the NextGen Compendium is loaded, you load the LOINC codes. The LOINC codes contain the following information: Column Column Content Row Type New or different (updated records) indicator LOINC Code The LOINC code is the unique identifier for the LOINC record to facilitate the exchange and pooling of results for clinical care, outcome management, and research. Component Description Contains information on what is measured, evaluated or observed. Long Common Name This is the long common name assigned to this LOINC code. User Description This value can be edited by the user. Property This is the observed property of the LOINC component (for example, substance concentration, mass, volume) Time Aspect The time of the measurement (over time or momentary) System The origin of the specimen (for example, blood donor, fetus, or blood product unit) Scale Type This column identifies the scale of measurement of the LOINC component. Method Type This column identifies the method of measurement

Automatically Flag Sensitive Encounters in the LOINC® Code System

Before you begin To flag encounters as sensitive, you must select the Enable Sensitive Encounter checkbox on the Practice Configuration template. To add data elements for the code system, you must configure the Sensitive Encounter Configuration template. For more information on how to configure data elements, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the latest Practice Configuration Template User Guide forNextGen®Adaptive Content Engine. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Select a patient record, and then create an encounter. In the left pane, select Orders. The Order module opens. In Orders Summary, select New. The LOINC master file enables the Orders Module to support the Logical Observation Identifiers Names and Codes (LOINC) universal coding for test results. This allows providers to view results coming back from different performing entities on the same line in the order flow sheet. You can only modify the clinical name information for the LOINC codes; you cannot create or hide the codes.
