LOINC Codes

After the NextGen Compendium is loaded, you load the LOINC codes. The LOINC codes contain the following information:

Row TypeNew or different (updated records) indicator
LOINC CodeThe LOINC code is the unique identifier for the LOINC record to facilitate the exchange and pooling of results for clinical care, outcome management, and research.
Component DescriptionContains information on what is measured, evaluated or observed.
Long Common NameThis is the long common name assigned to this LOINC code.
User DescriptionThis value can be edited by the user.
PropertyThis is the observed property of the LOINC component (for example, substance concentration, mass, volume)
Time AspectThe time of the measurement (over time or momentary)
SystemThe origin of the specimen (for example, blood donor, fetus, or blood product unit)
Scale TypeThis column identifies the scale of measurement of the LOINC component.
Method TypeThis column identifies the method of measurement for the LOINC component.
Class Type1 = Laboratory, 2 = Clinical, 3 = Claims, 4 = Attachment
ClassClassification of LOINC term
Order/ObservationIndicates whether LOINC component is for Order, Observation or both.
