Buttons	Function
	You can choose to filter the new items by New Information only Different information only
	If selected, the differences are highlighted in the compendium list and the blue arrows are activated to move through the differences. If not selected, the differences are shown as plain text.
	Moves through the new LOINC code list one at a time, or moves to the beginning or end of list.
	Select this button to get information on how to edit compendium data.
	Save modified LOINC records.
	Update (Save) displayed LOINC records.

Column	Column Content
or	Indicates a new record or a conflict with existing data.
Code	This is the LOINC code ID that is used to identify this test in the NextGen compendium, for example "10032-1."
Component Description	This is the text description associated with this test component in the NextGen compendium.
Long Common Name	Long Name assigned to the LOINC code. It can be selected and copied.
User Description	The user defined description for the LOINC component. You can edit this field or paste text into this field.
Property	The observed property of the LOINC component, for example, substance, concentration, volume.
Time Aspect	The timing of the measurement for the LOINC component.
System	This is the origin of the specimen if not the patient, for example a blood donor.
Scale Type	The scale of measurement for the LOINC component.
Method Type	This is the method of the measurement for the LOINC component. This value comes from LOINC (loinc.org).
Class Type	1=Laboratory, 2=Clinical, 3=Claims Attachment, 4=Surveys.
Class	Classification of LOINC term.
Order/Observation	This indicates whether the LOINC component is for Order, Observation or both.

LOINC Code Update Indicators

In the new orders list, different colored indicators show the state of each item in the compendium list: GREEN Text If there is a GREEN cross on the item that indicates it is a New LOINC code item. CAUTION SIGN and BLUE Square If there is a yellow caution sign and a blue square around the Component description, a Difference exists between the current LOINC table and the updated table. Double-click the shortcut on the desktop or select the Orders Management Console from the application launcher. Enter your login credentials. The Orders Management Console window opens. Select LOINC codes and select Download. The list of new LOINC codes available displays. If no new codes are available, a message appears stating that there are no records to process. To help with the processing of each new test, use the row and cell color of the LOINC code. Select Save Modified or Save to make the test updates permanent. LOINC Codes

After the NextGen Compendium is loaded, you load the LOINC codes. The LOINC codes contain the following information: Column Column Content Row Type New or different (updated records) indicator LOINC Code The LOINC code is the unique identifier for the LOINC record to facilitate the exchange and pooling of results for clinical care, outcome management, and research. Component Description Contains information on what is measured, evaluated or observed. Long Common Name This is the long common name assigned to this LOINC code. User Description This value can be edited by the user. Run the Orders Management Console and load the LOINC codes. To display the description of the test differently from the LOINC description , complete the following steps: From File Maintenance select System > LOINC, and select Component to focus on it. In the LOINC Code List window, enter the name of a Component in the Loinc Code List Search field. LOINC Support and Results Grouping

The Orders module supports the Logical Observation Identifiers Names and Codes universal coding for test results (known as LOINC®) . This feature allows you to see test results for the same type of test on the same line even if the tests were performed at two different labs. By way of example, if one lab says "White Blood Count" in the results message and one returns "WBC" in the results message, the LOINC system has a standard ID for test result components that brings them together on the same line in the Results flow sheet. Important: When viewing results in the Orders module on the results flowsheet, they are grouped per a user defined preference: Lab Short description,Lab Long description or NextGen description. If results are grouped by NextGen description, the result names can be either the clinical name, the consumer name or the long common name.
