View Combined Results Using LOINC

In the Orders module, select the Results tab. On the Results tab, select NextGen Description from the View Results by list. Select the Show Only Results check box in the Results tab Top toolbar. The results from these tests combine in the display on the same line in the Results flow sheet. Note: You can set user preferences to use NextGen Description as the default labs result view and to View Results Only. Run the Orders Management Console and load the LOINC codes. To display the description of the test differently from the LOINC description , complete the following steps: From File Maintenance select System > LOINC, and select Component to focus on it. In the LOINC Code List window, enter the name of a Component in the Loinc Code List Search field. From File Maintenance, use Order Components to define a component and related LOINC Code for each vendor that you use. For example, Labcorp has a glucose component, Orchard has a glucose component, and Quest Diagnostics has a glucose component. Load LOINC codes and define the test clinical name. To define the LOINC Code for an Order Component, from File Maintenance, select System > Order Components. In the Order Components List, enter the name of a Component Desc. in the Order Components List Search field, and select the desired item in the list that appears. The Add/Modify Order Component Information window opens. Select the folder in the Loinc Code section. The Map LOINC Code to Component window opens. Enter the test order name, and then select the desired LOINC code to add it to the Included section and map this code to the test component. Select OK. The Orders module supports the Logical Observation Identifiers Names and Codes universal coding for test results (known as LOINC®) . This feature allows you to see test results for the same type of test on the same line even if the tests were performed at two different labs. By way of example, if one lab says "White Blood Count" in the results message and one returns "WBC" in the results message, the LOINC system has a standard ID for test result components that brings them together on the same line in the Results flow sheet. Important: When viewing results in the Orders module on the results flowsheet, they are grouped per a user defined preference: Lab Short description,Lab Long description or NextGen description. If results are grouped by NextGen description, the result names can be either the clinical name, the consumer name or the long common name. LOINC® Data Set LOINC® Data Set The LOINC™ Codes data set displays a list of Logical Observation Identifiers Names and Codes (LOINC) codes associated with Procedure codes. The LOINC code is required for Quality Reporting. The LOINC Codes data set enables you to review which codes require LOINC code and allows you to add new procedure codes to associate with the LOINC code. Note: You need to import LOINC codes using the Orders Management Console accessed through the application launcher.
