Run the Orders Management Console and load the LOINC codes. Add LOINC Codes to Order Components

Select File Maintenance > System > Order Components. Select Open Menu , and then New to create a component, or select an existing component to open it. Select the Folder button. In the Available field, search on a Code or Clinical Name for the component. Select the correct code to highlight it. Select the right-arrow to add it to the Included list. Test Order Information

Field Description System The test vendor. Key A specific order test key. The order test Key must match the key used by the specific vendor. Each vendor has to provide a list of test orders and their keys to NextGen Healthcare to use to define tests for a NextGen database. Description A description of the lab test. Order Type Code System The code to identify the test vendor. Common abbreviations are L for Labcorp, Q for Quest Diagnostics, and H for Orchard. This field serves no purpose in NextGen® Enterprise. The testing entity defines this value. Cost The cost of performing the test. This value can only be a positive number. This value is used with the Advanced Beneficiary Notice feature. Days to expect results The number of days until results for a specific test will be received for a lab or radiology order, if necessary. For example, a gynecology practice may set up all Pap tests with expected test result due dates of 5 days from the order date. The default value is 1. NextGen Test C

Order Component Information

Field Description System ID Select a testing entity. This can be a lab or radiology location. Examples are Labcorp and Quest Diagnostics. Key Enter a specific order component key. This is provided by the vendor. Description Enter a description of an order component. This is a text description such as Glucose, Sodium, and others. Code System Enter the Code System. This is an agreed upon ID for the testing entity such as "L" for Labcorp. Units Specify the type of units for the selected order component. This can be values such as ug/dL, %, Thous/mcl, and others. Ref Range Enter the acceptable range of results for the selected test order component. Examples are values such as 3.8-10.8, 130-400, F: 12-14; M 14-18. LOINC Code This is the Logical Observation Identifiers Names and Codes (LOINC) universal coding for test results. LOINC Support and Results Grouping

The Orders module supports the Logical Observation Identifiers Names and Codes universal coding for test results (known as LOINC®) . This feature allows you to see test results for the same type of test on the same line even if the tests were performed at two different labs. By way of example, if one lab says "White Blood Count" in the results message and one returns "WBC" in the results message, the LOINC system has a standard ID for test result components that brings them together on the same line in the Results flow sheet. Important: When viewing results in the Orders module on the results flowsheet, they are grouped per a user defined preference: Lab Short description,Lab Long description or NextGen description. If results are grouped by NextGen description, the result names can be either the clinical name, the consumer name or the long common name.
