Define LOINC Codes for Order Components for Each Vendor

From File Maintenance, use Order Components to define a component and related LOINC Code for each vendor that you use. For example, Labcorp has a glucose component, Orchard has a glucose component, and Quest Diagnostics has a glucose component. Load LOINC codes and define the test clinical name. To define the LOINC Code for an Order Component, from File Maintenance, select System > Order Components. In the Order Components List, enter the name of a Component Desc. in the Order Components List Search field, and select the desired item in the list that appears. The Add/Modify Order Component Information window opens. Select the folder in the Loinc Code section. The Map LOINC Code to Component window opens. Enter the test order name, and then select the desired LOINC code to add it to the Included section and map this code to the test component. Select OK. Run the Orders Management Console and load the LOINC codes. Test Order Information

Field Description System The test vendor. Key A specific order test key. The order test Key must match the key used by the specific vendor. Each vendor has to provide a list of test orders and their keys to NextGen Healthcare to use to define tests for a NextGen database. Description A description of the lab test. Order Type Code System The code to identify the test vendor. Common abbreviations are L for Labcorp, Q for Quest Diagnostics, and H for Orchard. This field serves no purpose in NextGen® Enterprise. The testing entity defines this value. Cost The cost of performing the test. This value can only be a positive number. This value is used with the Advanced Beneficiary Notice feature. Days to expect results The number of days until results for a specific test will be received for a lab or radiology order, if necessary. For example, a gynecology practice may set up all Pap tests with expected test result due dates of 5 days from the order date. The default value is 1. NextGen Test C

Select Order Test Components

After creating all of the necessary and needed order components and order tests, you can add one or more components to a test order. From File Maintenance > Master Files > System selection list, select Order Tests. Enter the Order Test details: System, Key, Description, Code System, Order Type and NextGen Compendium Test Key. After the basic test information is added, continue on the Options tab to select test components. Select the Options tab. At the bottom of this window is the Components section. Select the Components folder . One at a time, select each test that is a part of this test group. Select the right arrow to add it to the Included list. When you have added all components, select OK. All test components now display in the Components pane of this window. Select OK to save this update and exit the Order Tests master file. In the Available field, search on a Code or Clinical Name for the component. Select the correct code to highlight it. Select the right-arrow to add it to the Included list. Update NextGen Test Code in a Compendium

You can update the NextGen Test associated with a test in a compendium. Open Orders Management Console. Open the download of a compendium. Select the down arrow next to the test code and select a code from the list of similar tests. Select Save or Save Modified. The new test code is saved. Note: In the Order Test Codes page of the Labcorp compendium, the New NextGen Test (Code) column displays the new test description with code, and the Current NextGen Test (Code) column displays the existing description with code from the NextGen database.
