Document the Fracture Care Details of a Patient
You can add the fracture care assessment using the Fracture Care/casting/strapping template.
- On the Fracture Care/casting/strapping-Proc template, click the Assessment Tool link and select the diagnosis from the Fracture Casting Strapping category.
- Click the Add Common Assessment link and select an assessment from the Common assessment template.
- Click Save & Close.
- In Episode of Care, select either New episode or Return Visit.
- Select Right or Left.
- In the Casting section:
- If required, select No Cast Charge, No Supplies Charge, or No DME Charge.
The code is automatically populated in the Code field when you select a diagnosis using Assessment Tool.
- Click Cast, Other/Additional Casting Applications, and Modification and Status to select the required values from the respective picklists.
- If required, select No Cast Charge, No Supplies Charge, or No DME Charge.
- In the Splinting/Strapping section, click Splints, Additional Splinting, Strapping, and Additional Strapping to select values from the respective picklists.
- In the Supplies and DME section:
- Select Casting Q codes, Additional Q codes, DME, Code, and then fill in the other details.
- Select the required check boxes and enter the number of rolls in the respective Rolls field.
- In the Application panel:
- In the Exam of affected area section, select the appropriate options.
- In the Skin section, select the appropriate selections for Skin Appearance, Care, and Pin Sites.
- In the Procedure Toleration section, select all the appropriate options.
- In Comments, enter additional information, if any.
- In the Instructions panel, document required information in the Instructions, Follow up, Education, and Refer To sections.
- In the Type of Treatment/Billing section, to place an order:
- Select a value from the Fracture Care option or select the Casting/Strapping/DME Only check box.
An alert message displays if one of these two options is not selected.Note: When fracture care services are not provided or if fracture care is not a billable code, you can provide Casting, Strapping, or DME care by selecting the check box.
- Click Initial Treatment Date and select the required date.
Note: This field is mandatory if you select a value from the Fracture Care option. An alert message is displayed if you do not enter the initial treatment date.
- Click the My Phrases, Common Phrases, or Manage My Phrases link to enter phrases, and then click Add.
The fracture care assessment is added to the grid in the Type of Treatment/Billing panel and in the Today’s Procedure Note grid. - Select a value from the Fracture Care option or select the Casting/Strapping/DME Only check box.
