Schedule a Surgery for Orthopedics
- From the navigation bar, click the Surgery Scheduling link.
The Ort Surgery Scheduling template appears.
- To specify the facility, do one of the following:
- Click the Facility field and select a value from the picklist.
- Click the top blank row in the picklist and type a value in the field.
- Click the Surgeon field and select a surgeon to place the orders for surgery.
- To specify the assistant, do one of the following:
- Click the Assistant field and select a value from the picklist.
- Click the top blank row in the picklist and type a value in the field.
- Select any of the following option to indicate the surgery type:
- Inpatient
- Outpatient
- Observation
- In the Consents section, enter the required details.
- In the Procedure section,
- Click the first text box and select a diagnosis from the picklist.
The second text box is filled with diagnosis code.
- Click the third text box to access the Select Procedure window.
- Search for and select an appropriate procedure.
- Click OK.
The fourth text box is populated with the procedure code. - Click the fifth text box and select a location from the Side picklist.
- Click the sixth text box and select a procedure date.
- Click Add.
The selected data is displayed in the grid.
- Click the first text box and select a diagnosis from the picklist.
- In the Laboratory Tests section,
- Click the Assessment field and select the assessment from the picklist.
The associated assessment code is populated in the Code field.
- To place new orders and/or document results of the previously performed test, select any of check boxes and/or fields in the following sections:
- CBC
- Coags
- Other Labs
The Order additional labs link is used to place additional lab tests orders.
The Differential DTL link is used to add additional test results for CBC.
- Click Print Lab Requisition to generate the lab requisition document displaying the details of selected laboratory tests.
The Check All button is used to select all check boxes associated with the button.
- Click the Assessment field and select the assessment from the picklist.
- In the Diagnostic Studies section,
- Click the ordered Date field of the required Diagnostic Studies and select a date from the calendar.
The default date is current date. By selecting the date, the Ordered check box is automatically selected.
- If the selected diagnostic study is completed, click the completed Date field, and select a date from the calendar.
The default date is current date. By selecting the date, the Completed check box is automatically selected.
- Click the corresponding Findings field and select a value from the picklist.
- Click the ordered Date field of the required Diagnostic Studies and select a date from the calendar.
- In the Surgery Details section,
- Click the following fields and select an appropriate option from the corresponding picklist:
- Start Time Requested: Select the AM or PM option or select the No Preference check box, as appropriate.
- Estimated Time
- Classification
- Extra Nurse
- Anesthesia
- Table
- Position
- Prostheses
- Plates & Implants
- Equipment
- Grafts
- Select the No or Yes option for Does patient agree to transfusion.
- In the Comments field enter any additional information associated with surgery.
The selected orders are displayed in the All orders for this encounter grid.
- Click the following fields and select an appropriate option from the corresponding picklist:
- Click the Consult/Orders tab at the top of the Ort Surgery Scheduling template.
The Ort Surgery Consult/Orders template appears.
- In the Consult section, select any of the following check boxes and enter its status in the corresponding Status field.
- Medical clearance
- Cardiology clearance
- Pulmonary clearance
- If applicable, select the Include detail in document option for HPI, ROS, and/or PE to include documented details of history of present illness, review of systems, and physical exams respectively.
- Click the Place Order button after you document all pre-operative patient information.
- To generate the ort_surgery_scheduling document, do one of the following:
- Click the Preview Surgery button to generate in runtime.
- Click the Offline Surgery button to print the document offline. You can access this document from the Documents module on Top Toolbar.
- Click OK.
