Add Procedure Details in Dynamic HPI Template

The dynamic HPI template opens after you select a procedure in the Reason for Visit panel. This template allows you to document the procedure details such as procedure type, procedure category, and indications.

  1. In the Reason for Visit panel, select a procedure, documented in the Procedure panel, in the grid.

    At the top of the HPI template, you can view the previous or next procedure available in the Reason for Visit panel. You can click the right or left arrow at the top of the template to navigate to the next or previous procedures respectively.

    The Reason field populates with the associated site of the procedure selected in the Reason for Visit panel.

    • To change the reason, click the drop-down arrow and select a desired procedure from the list.
  2. Select Procedure from the left pane.
    A list of categories appears in the right-grid. An asterisk (*) appears to the left of the pre-selected category and/or type that you had documented in the Procedure panel.
    1. Select the applicable category to be associated with the procedure.
    2. Click Procedure Types and select a procedure type from the list.
  3. Select Indications from the left pane.
    A list of indications pretext appears in the right-grid. An asterisk (*) appears to the left of the pre-selected indication(s) from the Procedure panel.
    • Select the applicable pretext of the indication from the list.

      A list of indications associated with the selected pretext appears in the right-grid.

    • Select the applicable indication(s) from the list.

      You can click the link of the pretext at the top of the grid to navigate back to the previous menu, and then select another pretext and associate indications.

    As the selections are made in the right-grid, the selected values concatenates in the field below the right-grid.

  4. To add additional details on the procedure, click the Add/Edit Comments button.
    The Dynamic HPI Comments template opens. The Section field displays the last section selected on the dynamic HPI template.

    1. To change the section, click the Section field and select Procedure or Indications from the list.
    2. Enter any additional Comment on the procedure.
    3. Click Save & Close.
    The comments concatenate to the corresponding sentence (procedure or indication) on the dynamic HPI template.
  5. Expand the History of Present Illness panel.
    The documented HPI details appear in the grid.
  6. To document procedure details of other selected reasons, click the plus at the top-right side of the dynamic HPI template and select the desired procedure from the Reason field.
    The procedure details documented in the Reason for Visit panel appear in the Procedure panel on the Ambulatory Surgery framework templates.

    The Chart Summary link launches the Chart Summary template. This template displays the details documented by the Intake staff/clinical support staff and provider in the framework template set of the Procedure Preadmission and Procedure visit types. The left pane includes a list of categories to select and view the documented data. Some of the categories include filters at the top of the grid, allowing you to filter and review the required data. The data displayed in the grid is view-only, that is, you cannot edit or delete data from the grid.

    The View Previous button is used to add data from the previous encounters to the current dynamic HPI template.

    The Quick Save button is used to save the documented data of your current template/panel as a default set, allowing you to use it again when documenting on the same template/panel during future encounters. The Quick Load button allows you to select the previously created default set to load the default set values in the current template/panel.

  7. Click Close.
    The documented procedure details appear under the History of Present Illness column in the Reason for Visit panel.
