Add Medications to a Medication Class

The medication classes available in the Medication Classifications practice template display in the Medication Classes grid. You can define new medication classes by adding them to the medical_classification Db picklist on the Custom DB Picklists system template. The newly defined medication class will display in the Medication Classes grid.

  1. Select a medication class from the Medication Classes grid.
    The associated medications display in the Medication List grid.
  2. Use free text to type in a medication in the Search field and click Search.
    The results of the search display in the grid below the Search field.
  3. Select a medication from the grid and click Add Med.
    The medication is added to the medication class, and the AHFS Class and HIC3 grids populate with items associated with the added medication.
  4. Review the AHFS Class and the HIC3 grids.
    The American Hospital Formulary Service (AHFS) and Hierarchical Ingredient Code 3 (HIC3) are the list of medications that are grouped or classified by various sources.
  5. Do one of the following:
    • Click Add AHFS to add the medications in AHFS Class grid to the medication class.
    • Click Add HIC3 to add the medications in the HIC3 grid to the medication class.
    The AHFS Class or the HIC3 medications are added to the medications class.
