Access the Medication Classification Practice Template

From the File menu, select System\Practice Template. The Select Template template displays. Click the Practice tab. In the Show section, click the All option. A list of practice level templates displays. Select Medication Classifications , and then click OK. The Medication Classifications practice template displays. Alternatively, you can click the Medication Classes link on the Care Guidelines Setup practice template to launch the Medication Classifications practice template. Medication Classifications Practice Template

The Medication Classifications practice template enables you to define the Medication Classes, as well as the specific medications that fall under each class. The Medication Classes are used by Care Guidelines to determine if a specific medication class has been prescribed to a patient. The Medication Classes are also used by Chronic Conditions on the Chronic Conditions template (chronic_conditions), and the Chronic Conditions - Hpi template (hpi_chronic_conditions), and in Ophthalmology for distinguishing ophthalmic medications from systemic medications so that they can be sorted into the appropriate medication data grids. Medication Classes are also used on the Medication History template, in addition to other areas of NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine. The Medication Classifications practice template is part of the Care Guidelines system. Remove a Medication from a Medication Class

You can remove the medications added to a medication class by selecting the remove links available on the Medication Classifications practice template. Select a medication class from the Medication Classes grid. Select a medication from the Medication List grid. Click Remove This Generic Med link. The medication associated with the medication class is removed from the list. You can remove the AHFS class items by selecting the Remove AHFS Class link, and the HIC3 items by selecting the Remove HIC3 link. Add Medications to a Medication Class

The medication classes available in the Medication Classifications practice template display in the Medication Classes grid. You can define new medication classes by adding them to the medical_classification Db picklist on the Custom DB Picklists system template. The newly defined medication class will display in the Medication Classes grid. For more information about creating a custom Db picklist refer to the Custom DB Picklists System Template for NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine. This document can be downloaded from the NextGen Healthcare Success Community. Select a medication class from the Medication Classes grid. The associated medications display in the Medication List grid. Use free text to type in a medication in the Search field and click Search. The results of the search display in the grid below the Search field. Select a medication from the grid and click Add Med.
