Document Group Visit Information

You can document the details of group sessions, including the therapy progress of each individual. There are several types of psychotherapy visits, of these, group visits are a common occurrence in the behavioral health setting. Family and group psychotherapy visits can only be completed for a patient who is already designated as a member of a group in the system. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR, and then select File > New > Group Encounter. Choose a patient group, and then select OK. To access the Group Prog Note (BH) template, select Select Template Template Icon The Select Template window opens. On the Group tab, select All. Select Group Prog Note (BH). Note: Your practice can also configure the template to be accessible from thePacket Navigation (BH)template. Group Encounter Management

The Group Encounter Management (BH) template enables you to modify existing group encounter dates or create new group encounters with any date (future dates not allowed). Unlike patient encounters that are patient-specific and cannot be applied to multiple patients at one time, a group encounter can be shared among multiple patients. Group encounters are commonly used in group therapy where multiple patients attend the same session at the same time. One of the main benefits of using a group encounter is that you can complete documentation for all members on a single note within the group encounter. Since the encounter is shared among multiple patients, the documentation can be seen from each patient’s chart. Certain templates have been designed specifically for group encounters and can only be accessed from within a group encounter such as the Group Progress Note (BH) template. Open the Group Encounter Management Template

Learn how to access the Group Encounter Management (BH) template. The Group Encounter Management (BH) template enables you to modify existing group encounter dates or create new group encounters with any date (future dates not allowed). From the File menu, select System\Practice Template. The Select Template window opens. Select All option to view all template. Select the Group Encounter Management (BH) template and then select OK. Group Encounter Properties

When you create a new group encounter, the encounter properties are updated with the selected location and provider in the patient info bar. It is important that you confirm you have the correct Location and Provider selected prior to creating a new encounter from the Group Encounter Management (BH) template. Encounter Location and Provider When you select a program from the Group Prog Note (BH) template, the location on the encounter updates based on the program selection saved to the template. Accessing Patient Groups

In NextGen® Enterprise PM, you can access patient groups by doing one of the following: From the Tasks menu, select Patient Group. From the Appointment Book toolbar, select Patient Group. In NextGen® Enterprise EHR, you can access patient groups by selecting the File menu and then selecting Patient Group. When you access patient groups, the Patient Group Search window opens so you can search for a specific group. Parent topic: Patient Groups

Create a Group Encounter

You can group several patients into a group encounter. Note: To create a group encounter, make sure that at least one patient group has been created. In NextGen® Enterprise EHR, from the File menu, select New > Group Encounter. The New Group Encounter window opens. Select a patient group. Note: By default, NextGen® Enterprise EHR creates all encounters as "clinical" only types. If you plan to add any medical information that requires billing data to be sent to NextGen® Enterprise PM, edit the encounter type to "clinical" and "billable" in the Encounter Maintenance window (accessed from the View menu, Properties) . Group encounters automatically add encounter-level Insurance to all patients who are members of the selected patient group. Select OK. A new group encounter with the current date is added in the encounter window. You can add any templates, documents, images, or other patient items to this group encounter.
