Medications

You can document and manage the medication history and current medications of a patient. You can use the Medications panel to view the patient's current medications and medication history, enter additional prescriptions for the patient, and reconcile the medications listed with the actual active medications for the patient. You can use the No medications this encounter checkbox if there are no active medications for the patient. Medications Panel You can reconcile the medications for the patient using the Medications reconciled checkbox, and indicate that you have received the summary of care for the patient using the Summary of care received checkbox. You can select the Reconcile button to use the following: Medication Review to review the patient medication on the Medication Review template Electronic Reconciliation to electronically reconcile the medications on the Clinical Reconciliation template The documented medication records appear in rows. Patient Medication

You can view the patient's active medications and the medications prescribed, modified, and renewed during the selected encounter in the Medications panel. You can enter additional prescriptions for the patient, and reconcile the medications listed with what medications the patient is actually consuming and how the patient is consuming them. The No medications this encounter check box selection is encounter-based. If you select the No medications this encounter check box for a previous encounter and prescribe medication in a current encounter by selecting the Prescribed Elsewhere check box, then the No medications this encounter check box for the previous encounter remains selected. The patients can now view the active medications and medications prescribed during the selected encounter in the documents. Medications Panel on the ASC - Intake Template

The patient's medication details documented on the ASC -Scheduling Questions template or ASC - Pre admission template appear in the Medications panel of the ASC - Intake template. For information on the Medications module documentation, see Medications Module. The intake staff reviews and makes the necessary changes to the patient's medication details as appropriate on the ASC - Intake template. You can view the patient's active medications and the medications prescribed, modfied, and renewed during the selected encounter in the Medications panel. View the Current Medications for a Patient

You can view the medications of a patient in the Medications module. The controlled substances medication names appear in red color. In NextGen® Mobile, select a patient.The Patient Chart view opens. If the medications are prescribed to the patient, the Medications module displays a value in parenthesis. The value indicates the number of active medications prescribed. If no value is displayed, the patient does not have active medications. The patient can have inactive or pending medications. Select the Medications section.The list of active patient medications appears. Medication section For properly configured NextGen Healthcare clinics, the patient’s medication formulary eligibility status appears in Rx Eligibility. View Patient Medications

Before you begin You must ensure that you have the View access right enabled in MODULES > Medical Records > Medications in System Administrator. For more information on user access rights, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the latest System Administrator Guide forNextGen®Enterprise. You can view a quick list of the patient's active medications and also open the Medications module to add, update, or reconcile the patient's medications. A total count of the patient's active medications appears on the Medications button on the Quick Buttons panel. Note: The icon indicates that the patient account does not have any active medications records and the No Active Medications check box in Medication Module is not selected.
