Place an Order for a Lab or Radiology Guideline Item Using the Order Module

You can place an order for a lab or radiology guideline item on the Order module.

You can order lab and radiology orderable guideline items that are due from the Order module when the Enable Order Module setting in the Orders/Plans section on the Practice Configuration practice template is selected.

The information on how to configure the Care Guidelines Paged View template to enable the direct placement of orders for guideline items from the Order module is as below:

1. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR.
2. On the Care Guidelines Paged View template, review orderable guideline items active for the patient.
   • Items that are due or past due display the date in red font
   • Items that are due in the future display a date in black font
3. Select the checkbox to the left of the lab or radiology guideline item you want to order.
   The Order module opens the Lab or Rad order tab, corresponding to the type of orderable guideline item you selected.
4. In the Select Tests section, select the checkbox corresponding to the test you selected on the Care Guidelines Paged View template.
   The Favorites list of tests appears by default.

   The test selected appears listed in the Assign Diagnosis to Selected Tests section below the Select Tests section.

   • To select different options for displaying test, select one of the buttons in the Select Tests section: Show Favorites (displayed by default), By Category, and This Order.
   • To select a test not listed, select the Search All button to open the Search Tests window.
   • Select the This Order button in the Select Tests section to display any tests selected for the order, including the test added from a search.
5. In the Select Diagnosis section at the top of the Order module, select the checkbox corresponding to the diagnosis you want to assign to the selected test.
   The patient’s diagnoses display by default.

   The diagnosis codes selected, appear with the test they are assigned to in the Assign Diagnosis to Selected Tests section below the Select Tests section.

   • To display today’s assessments, select the Check Today’s button or the patient’s chronic conditions, and select the Check Chronic button.
   • To select a non listed diagnosis, select the Select All button to open the diagnosis search window. A selected diagnosis is added to the patient’s billing code list.
   • Select This Order in the Select Diagnosis section to display any diagnosis selected for the order, including the diagnosis added from a search.
6. Select Save.
   The Order module closes and you return to the Care Guidelines Paged View template.

   The Status for the guideline item is updated to ordered, and the ordered date appears in the current application date below the Status field.
