Physical Therapy

You can configure Physical Therapy (PT) specialty using the PT section. The configuration in the PT section applies to the Physical Therapy specialty. PT section In the PT section, you can configure the following: If you select the Disable auto assignment of timed proc units checkbox, the system does not automatically add the timed procedure units to the Procedure panel on the PT Finalize template. View Run-Time Result of Adding PT Modifier 59 Data Set Items

Before you view the result in the run-time template, ensure that the Enable automatically applying 59 modifier check box is selected in the PT section on the Practice Configuration template. In the run-time Intake template, select Specialty as Physical Therapy and Visit Type as Physical Therapy Treatment. Select the Finalize tab. In the Procedures panel, select one of the active text links.The respective template opens. Enter details to retrieve data for the primary service or procedure that is configured using the PT Modifier 59 data set and then select Save & Close.The service or procedure, CPT code, and the documented details are displayed in the first row. Repeat steps 3 and 4 to retrieve data for the secondary service or procedure that is configured using the PT Modifier 59 data set.The service or procedure, CPT code, and the documented details are displayed in the second row. Verify Coding and Submit to Superbill

After reviewing all information for the encounter, and updating where necessary, you can verify the code and submit to superbill. The Verify Code and Submit to Superbill buttons are found at the bottom right of the PT Finalize template. Treatment Time Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. On the PT Finalize template, review the Treatment Time section.Total treatment time and timed units billed, compared to the expected treatment time and any time remaining can be reviewed in the Treatment Time section. Expected treatment times are optional and can be configured by the practice on the Practice Configuration practice template. Click Verify Coding to have the system verify the coding.If any coding issues are found, a message appears. If there are no issues with coding, the Submit to Superbill button appears. Procedures Panel

The Procedures panel on the PT Finalize template automatically displays treating procedures that were previously documented on the Treatment Panel of the Objective template as having been performed during the encounter. Treating procedures can be reviewed and updated. Options include: The ability to add up to three modifiers, the number of billing units, and the diagnosis code(s) associated with each of the treatment procedure(s) The ability to suppress billing for individual treatment procedure items Note: Billing units related to Medicare billing are automatically calculated based on the Medicare 8-minute rule when you select the Apply Medicare checkbox in the Payer panel. The Procedures panel displays the CPT code and total minutes spent performing the treatment. The time of like CPT codes is combined and appears as a single row with Total minutes for that CPT code. Complete Billing for Procedure Items

Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. In the Assessment panel on the PT Finalize template, select an assessment listed in the Encounter Diagnosis grid. To associate the diagnosis with a treatment, click the first available Dx code field in the row displaying the treatment.All Procedure rows displaying treatments that were performed automatically display the selected encounter diagnosis code under the Dx code field. This is done to eliminate the need to keep re-selecting the assessment and clicking in the Dx code field for the following treatment. Up to four diagnosis codes can be associated with a treatment procedure. If appropriate, click the treatment procedure’s first available Modifier field and select the modifier from the picklist.Up to three modifiers can be entered. PT Modifier 59 Data Set

The PT Modifier 59 data set enables you to configure and store CPT code combinations for which 59 modifier must be attached while sending the information for billing. On the PT Finalize template, you can add several procedures for an encounter. Based on the billing rules, the 59 modifier is attached to include the charges associated with the secondary service or procedure that is provided along with the primary service or procedure. For the procedures, the 59 modifier is attached with the secondary procedure for a specific combination of CPT codes. If the functionality to automatically add the 59 modifier to the secondary procedure is enabled on the Practice Configuration template, then the PT Modifier 59 data set enables you to regulate the automatic addition of 59 modifiers to the secondary procedure.
