Intake Staff Workflow

The intake staff workflow involves documenting the patient encounter in the Intake and Histories templates. The information documented by the intake staff is used by the provider for reference and to proceed with the encounter. Intake Template Overview of the Histories Template You can add, update, delete, and review a patient's history summary details. Document the Obstetrics and Gynecology Synopsis Template The Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBGYN) Synopsis template provides the details of female patients. Open the Zika Pregnancy Screening Template You can open the Zika Pregnancy Screening template from the Contagion Risk link. Home Page Template Generate Intake Note You can generate the intake note for a patient using Generate Intake Note on the Intake template. Documenting Obstetrics Postpartum Visits

You can enter postpartum details in the OB Postpartum template. The OB Postpartum template is used during a postpartum visit. To document a postpartum visit, you must select Obstetrics as the specialty and OB - Postpartum or Document Pregnancy Outcome as the visit type. Note: The OB Postpartum visit type can only be used after every pregnancy. If a patient is seen for a wound check after delivery, you must select the Post-Operative Visit. If a patient has just delivered and the practice want to document the details of the delivery immediately, you can select the Document Pregnancy Outcome visit type. The OB Postpartum template includes the addition of the Postpartum Details and Pregnancy Outcome panels. Compiling this data into a single template improves the workflow. Obstetrics Intake Staff Workflow

You can document the intake information in the Intake template. The intake staff workflow for an Initial Prenatal visit involves documenting the patient encounter on the Intake, Gestational Age, Histories, and Education templates. The information documented by the intake staff is reviewed by the provider. When you open the Intake template, select Obstetrics and OB Prenatal Initial from the Specialty and Visit Type fields to display the Initial Prenatal template set. The Intake template includes various links to add more information about the patient. Review of Obstetrics Details by Intake Staff The intake staff can review the patient's details documented during the previous encounters. Viewing Links on the Intake Template The links on the Intake template allows you to open the templates where you can document the patient details. Obstetrics Provider Workflow

You can document the provider information in the Prenatal Detail and SOAP template. The provider workflow for an Initial Prenatal visit involves reviewing the information documented by the intake staff and proceeding with the patient encounter by documenting information on the Prenatal Detail and SOAP templates. On the first visit, open the Gestational Age template must be opened and verify the due date. Reviewing Obstetrics Details by Providers A provider can start the visit by reviewing the patient information documented during the previous patient encounters on the Home Page template for the Obstetrics specialty. Obstetrics Home Page Template You can review the historical information of the patient on the Home Page - Obstetrics template. Document the Pregnancy Outcomes Template

You can document information in the Pregnancy Outcomes template. The Pregnancy Outcomes template provides you the ability to view and modify a patient’s gravidity and parity. You can view and modify the total parity values with or without the details of each pregnancy. Minimal required fields are Pregnancy Entry Type, Pregnancy #, and Delivery Type. It is preferable, on an OB initial visit to use the gravidity/parity fields and Pregnancy Outcomes templates from within the OB templates. When you activate parity auto-calculation, parity automatically calculates the details when you document historical pregnancy or end a current pregnancy When you select End current pregnancy the Gravidity reflects a non-pregnant status. This option is used on a postpartum or post-abortion visit and not on an initial prenatal visit. On the Patient Information Card in NextGen® Enterprise EHR, select OBGYN.The OBGYN Synopsis template opens. Select the Add/Update Detail button in the OBGYN Synopsis template.

Documenting Pregnancy Outcomes

You can document pregnancy outcomes in the OBGYN Synopsis and Pregnancy Outcomes templates. You can document the Pregnancy outcomes in the OBGYN Synopsis and Pregnancy Outcomes templates. Note: In a Gynecology patient, the OBGYN Details link would not be typically used in a pregnant patient. There are two ways to enter new pregnancy: Quick entry Detailed entry Quick Entry of Pregnancy Outcomes You can enter a quick parity entry in the Pregnancy Outcomes template. Detailed Entry of Pregnancy Outcomes You can enter a detailed parity entry in the Pregnancy Outcomes template.
