Flag an Attachment that Includes Sensitive Information

You can flag an alert to an attachment that has sensitive information in the attachments section of the Referral Orders template.

When you select an attachment in a sensitive encounter, this is indicated in the Attachments field on the Referrals Order and Referral Management templates with the following text:

*Attachments exist – see Details (includes attachments from sensitive encounters)*

When the Referrals document is generated, it prints out the text of the Attachments field. Sensitive information is not displayed on the document.

  1. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR.
  2. Open a patient's record, and then open an encounter.
  3. Open the Intake template, select the Family Practice specialty and Office Visit visit type, and then select My Plan.
    The My Plan window opens.
  4. Select the Referrals tab.
    The Referrals Order template window opens.
  5. In the Attachments section, select Details.
    The Referral Attachments window opens.
  6. To attach documents and images from the patient's chart to a referral, select any of the eight available attachment fields.
  7. To return to the Referrals Order template, select Save & Close.
  8. To accept the attachments as is, select Yes on the alert window.
    The Referral Attachments template closes, and text appears in the Attachment section that this referral order has attachments.
  9. To go to the Referral Attachments template to review and make any necessary changes to the attachments list, select No.
