You can select the Medications or Immunizations links at any time during the encounter to open the associated module.
- Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR.
- Open a patient's record, and then open an encounter.
- Open the Intake template, select the Family Practice specialty and Office Visit visit type, and then select My Plan.
The My Plan window opens.
- Select the Referrals tab.
The Referrals Order template opens.
You can select the information
icon to learn more about the Referrals Order template.
- On the Referrals tab, select the insurance provider.
- Enter the insurance policy number, and then select the referral type.
- To learn more about documenting on the Referrals Order template, select any of the informational
icons.
- In the To section, select Obstetrics.
- In the Provider name field, select to select a name from the Physician list.
- Select the Location field and do one of the following:
- Select a value from the list.
- Select the upper blank row to enter a location in the field.
- To indicate if authorization is required, select No or Yes.
- To document related details, select the Additional Information link.
- In the Diagnosis section, do the following:
- Select the Description field.
- If an assessment has not been documented for the patient encounter, select Add Assessment or Add Common assessment, and then select the Diagnosis field to enter it for the referral.
- Continue as needed in the three other available description fields.
- In the Services requested section, select the appropriate type of service.
- In the Clinical Indications section, document information in the Reason for Referral, time limit and Timeframe fields.
- To text further directions, select the Instructions Detail link.
- To filter the grid, in the Referrals ordered section, you can select Incomplete or Completed accordingly.
- Select Add.
Note: If tasking is configured, the Select Task Recipients template opens. Data entered through these fills in the Referrals ordered this encounter grid in the template.
- Select Close.
You are returned to the previous template with an entry for the new referral in the Referral History grid.
