You can measure the capacity of a patient's lungs to expel air.
- Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR.
- Open a patient's record, and then open an encounter.
- On Top Toolbar, select Templates
.
The Select Template window opens.
- Open the Asthma template.
- Select the diagnosis, and then select the Peak Flow Measurements link
The Asthma Peak Flow template opens. NextGen® Enterprise EHR automatically fills the name, gender, age, date, and Predicted peak expiratory values.
- Enter the race of the patient.
- In Asthma Peak Flow Measurements, select the method of testing the peak expiratory flow rate.
- Enter the height of the patient within the range of 30.48 to 304.5 centimeters or 12 to 119.88 inches.
- Select measure or carried forward as necessary.
- Enter a value in the Personal best field.
- In the Peak flow field, enter the peak expiratory flow rate of the patient within the range of 10 to 999.
Note: A message appears if the value entered is not within the specified range.
NextGen® Enterprise EHR automatically fills the Percent of predicted peak expiratory flow value.
- Select Pre-Tx or Post-Tx.
Note: If you select Post-Tx, then select the Office details.
- Enter comments, and then select Add.
The details are added to the Peak Flow grid and the related graph is updated.
- Save and close the template.
