Document Pre-Screening Questions

You can document a patient's alcohol and drug use details in the Pre-Screening Questions panel on the SBIRT Screening template.

1. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR.
2. In the navigation bar, select Screening Tools.
   The Screening Tools template opens.
3. In the Screening Tools Available section, select Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT).
   The SBIRT Screening template opens.

   

4. Expand the Pre-Screening Questions panel.
   

   Note: You can make the Alcohol or Drug Use/Abuse options available or hidden in the SBIRT section on the Practice Configuration practice template.
5. To indicate your social history review activity, select one of the following:
   • Detailed document
   • Reviewed, updated
   • Reviewed, no change
   The Last update/detailed doc date is updated based on your activity selection.
6. To document alcohol and drug use, select Alcohol Details and Drug Use Details links respectively.
   The Yes, No, or Formerly options are automatically selected based on the answer provided by patient.
7. To include all confidential details in the social history document with patient permission, select the corresponding checkbox.
8. Save and close the template.
