Document Anticipatory Guidance

For a Well child visit, the Anticipatory Guidance button appears in the Assessment/Plan section.
  1. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR.
  2. Open the SOAP template, and then expand the Assessment/Plan section.
  3. Select Anticipatory Guidance.
    The Peds Plan template opens based on the patient's age.

    Well Child Age displays the well child age of the patient by default. You can change the age for patients who have not visited the office for some time.

    Description in the Assessment section displays the default text for a routine child health exam.

  4. To change the diagnosis, select Description.
    The selected diagnosis and the associated code appear in Description and Code respectively.
  5. To document screening orders, do one of the following:
    • To enter a previously saved default set, select Quick Load.
    • In the Universal Screening Orders and Selective Screening Orders sections, select the desired checkboxes.
    Last Done Date displays the date if the line item is completed for the patient. After you complete an order, the date changes to that of the current encounter.
  6. To document a body mass index (BMI), hypertension, or depression care plan for a patient who is two years of age or older, select the HPP link.

  7. To open the Immunizations module, select Immunizations.

  8. If you do not apply the Quick Load functionality, select the desired checkboxes in the Anticipatory Guidance section.
    The groupings and selections available in the template are based on the Well Child Age value. All documented selections appear in the Anticipatory Guidance grid, where you can review the entries and remove any unnecessary rows.
  9. To select materials from Bright Futures Fourth Edition, select Patient Education.
  10. To move the selections to the Order module, select Place Order.
    The documented items appear in the Today's Orders panel.

    You can make any changes before processing the orders by using Edit or Remove.

  11. If turned on, select the Lab/Radiology Order Processing link.

  12. In the Comments panel, do one of the following:
    • Enter any additional information about the treatment plan.
    • Select My Phrases to select pre-existing entries.
  13. To save the documented values as the default set for future use, select Quick Save, enter a name for the default set, and then select Save & Close.
    Quick Save saves all data fields, checkboxes, options, and associated HPI settings under a unique name documented on the SOAP template. You must edit the information for the individual patient by using the quick note.   14. Close the Peds Plan template.
    The order details appear in the grid of the Assessment / Plan section and on a generated Master or Patient Plan document.
