Setting Up Intervention Tests Orders

You can set up the orderable test on the Care Guidelines Setup template. You can define the orderable tests (formerly protocols) for a guideline in the Orderable Tests Setup panel on the Care Guidelines Setup practice template. Initially, the grid displays all orderable tests for all guidelines in the system. You can select a condition or reason from the Condition/Reason field and filter the grid so that it only displays the orderable tests that are part of that guideline. Orderable Tests Setup CAUTION: Changes made to guideline items in the Orderable Tests Setup panel impact all patients. Changes made at a patient level only impact that specific patient. Patient level changes are made on the Care Guideline Update template. Update an Orderable Guideline Test Items You can update an orderable test item of a patient using the Care Guideline Setup template. Remove/Inactivate an Existing Orderable Guideline Item You can remove an orderable test item of a patient on the Care Guideline Setup

The FAQs panel on the Care Guidelines Setup template is where you can find answers for many frequently asked questions about the care guidelines application, how it works, and how to use it to perform common tasks. FAQs Find Information for Issues in the FAQs Grid You can view information for a specific topic listed in the FAQs grid. Search for Information for a Specific Topic You can search for information for a specific topic for a patient's issue. Modify an Existing Guideline

You can modify a guideline for a patient on the Care Guideline Setup template. Before you begin You must select the Auto-Apply checkbox to make the Birth sex, Start age, Stop age, and Diagnosis group fields available. Open NextGen® Office EHR. From File, select System \ Practice Template.The Select Template window opens. On the Practice tab, select the All option. Select Care Guideline Setup, and then select OK.The Care Guideline Setup practice template opens. Expand the Define Guideline Reasons & Auto Application panel and select the guideline from the data grid.Details listed in the grid for the guideline fill in the fields. These values can be modified. Note: When you update a guideline, the current Guideline Condition/Reason does not change. Modify the birth sex, start age, stop age, and diagnosis group as necessary. Create a Guideline

You can create a guideline for a patient on the Care Guideline Setup template. Before you begin You must select the Auto-Apply checkbox to make the Gender, Start age, Stop age, and Diagnosis group fields available. Otherwise, you must manually apply the guideline to patients if you choose to follow it. This can be done during encounter workflow. A guideline with Auto-Apply selected is not applied to a patient when a diagnosis has the Inactive or Resolved status. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. From File, select System \ Practice Template.The Select Template window opens. On the Practice tab, select the All option. Select Care Guideline Setup, and then select OK. You can set up the orderable items for a patient associated with orders in the NextGen Adaptive Content Engine. The Orderable items (formerly protocols), are associated with orders in the NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine, they have CPT® billing and compendium codes. Panel Description Manage Groups and Options Enables you to provide the functionality to create to guidelines based on the reason types. Define Guideline Reasons & Auto Application Enables you to define guidelines for a condition or disease. Interventions / Orders Setup Enables you to set up lab tests, diagnostic studies, and examinations (orderable items) for a guideline. Interventions/Test Equivalent Codes/Descriptions Intervention Equivalents section Enables you to set up any test descriptions or billing codes that are equivalent synonyms for a test defined in a guideline using either a description or a test code. Define Care Guideline Reasons

Open the Care Guidelines Setup template, and then expand the Define Guideline Reasons & Auto Application panel. In the Guideline Condition/Reason field, enter a name for the guideline. Guideline Condition/Reason field To configure a guideline to be specific to a gender, age, or diagnosis group, select the Auto-apply checkbox.The Gender field displays O for all ages. Gender field To apply a guideline to a specific gender, select the appropriate gender. Alternatively, to apply the guideline to all genders, you can use the O option in the list. Optional: To apply a guideline to a specific age range, enter the Start age and Stop age. To apply a guideline to a specific diagnosis group, select the appropriate group in the list. Diagnosis group field Select Add.The guideline condition and reason details appear in the Lst CG Reason picklist in the Orderable Testing Setup (Protocols) panel.
