Creating and Managing Customizable DB Picklists

The Custom DB Picklist system template enables you to create and manage customizable DB picklists that you can associate with any text field in any medical record template in the NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine. Note: For a new custom DB picklist, you must create triggers on the corresponding fields in the Template Editor to open the DB picklist. Before you can edit triggers on the field, you must copy and save the template with a unique name that will not be overwritten the next time you upgrade NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine. The Custom DB Picklist system template enables you to configure values for the pre-configured DB picklists that are packaged with NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine, without updating the triggers in Template Editor. Custom DB Picklist Setup

Once you create and save a custom DB picklist, you can use the Custom DB Picklists template to configure it with different properties and then save it with a unique name. Use the Step 2 Add/Edit List Items panel to manage: Custom DB picklists that use only two qualifiers (Qualifier 1 and Qualifier 2). Custom DB picklists that are already associated with a Practice ID. Note: You can tell if a custom DB picklist is associated with a practice ID by looking at the Practice ID column in theCustom DB Picklists template's top grid. Configure a Website to Access Patient Health Information

Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. In the Custom DB Picklists template top grid, select the Patient Generated Health setup DB picklist.The selected Patient Generated Health DB Picklist appears in the DBPicklist Name field. Select Configure.The Patient Generated Health Setup template opens with pre-configured data in the grid. To add a new care plan data, select the Add New List Items link.The fields above the grid become available for documentation. To associate the custom DB picklist to a practice, select the Practice ID field and select the practice that uses the care plan data. Copy Phrases from One Provider to Another Provider

You can copy phrases that you have created from one provider to another. This ability enables mid-level providers to access phrases that can promote continuity of care. The My Phrase panel in the Custom DB Picklists system template displays a list of phrases created by the current provider and enables providers to copy the phrases to another provider. Note: In run time, you must add phrases in the Manage My Phrases/Common Phrases template that opens from the My Phrases or My Phrases/Common Phrases link. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. On the Custom DB Picklists system template, select the My Phrases panel.A list of providers and phrase types appear in the grid. Create a New Custom DB Picklist

You can create a DB picklist at an enterprise-level, or use a practice ID to associate the picklist with a practice, location, and provider. When setting up the qualifiers, remember to provide a relevant caption for each qualifier. These captions appear when setting up custom DB picklist items. Note: For a new custom DB picklist, you must create triggers on the corresponding fields in the Template Editor to open the DB picklist. Before you can edit triggers on the field, you must copy and save the template with a unique name that will not be overwritten the next time you upgrade to a laterst version. From the top panel of the Custom DBPicklists system template, click the Add button. The Custom DB Picklist Create and Define window opens. Custom DBPicklist Create and Define In the Custom DBPicklist name field, enter a unique name. Important: By default, DB picklists are system-wide unless they are associated with a practice ID. Add List Items to a DB Picklist

Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. From the top grid, select the row of the DB picklist.The selected DB picklist details populate the Step 2 Add/Edit List Items grid. Note that: The Show selected DBPicklist option is selected to display the associated list items. The Show Only Editable Rows option displays the values of the custom DBPicklist that can be modified. Select Add New List Item link.The Get Dbpicklist Names list opens. Select the appropriate DB picklist name and select OK.Upon return to the Custom DB Picklists template, the List Item field at the bottom of the panel is enabled and ready for input. To customize the DB picklist for a specific practice, location and provider, select the relevant Practice ID, Location Name, and/or Provider Name. Note: By default, list items retain the options set for the DB picklist.
