Document Reasons for a Patient's Visit

You can document up to six reasons for a patient's visit during intake. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open the Intake template, and then expand the Reason for Visit panel. To add reasons for the patient's visit without opening another template, select Do not launch HPI, and then do one of the following: Select the reason for visit from the left navigation bar. To add a customized reason, enter the reason in Other, and then select Add. Select Additional / Manage, select appropriate reasons from the Reason for Visit window, and then select Save and Close. Note: You can view all the available history of present illnesses (HPIs) by selecting the All hpis checkbox in the Reason for Visit window. To add reasons for the patient's visit with additional details by using another template, clear the Do not launch HPI checkbox, select the necessary reasons, and then select Save & Close . Add Reasons for Visits

You can add HPIs as the reasons for a patient's visit. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. On the Intake template, in the Reason for Visit panel, select Do not launch HPI. Note: You can configure the Do not launch HPI checkbox on the Practice Configuration template. For more information, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the Practice Configuration Template User Guide for NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine. To select the appropriate complaint, do one of the following: Select a link from the left pane in the Reason for Visit panel. Select Additional / Manage to choose maximum six reasons from the resulting template. Note: If the selected reason is a duplicate, a message appears highlighting the duplication. Copy Review of Systems from Previous Encounters

You can copy review of systems from previous encounters of a patient to the current encounter instead of manually adding them. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open the SOAP template, and then expand the Reason for Visit panel. Select ROS History.The Historical Information window opens. Note: The records are displayed for the default duration configured in the Copy Previous Visit Information section of the Practice Configuration template. For more information, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the Practice Configuration Template User Guide for NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine. To filter the records in the grid, enter the search criteria in Filter by, and then select Search. Note: If the records are displayed from any sensitive encounter, an asterisk (*) appears on the record in the Sensitive column to help you decide whether to copy such records and update the current encounter as sensitive. Copy Historical Free Form HPI to Current Encounter

You can copy historical Free Form HPI data within the last three years to the current encounter in the Reason for Visit panel of the Intake – Cardiology template. Before you begin You must configure the Copy Historical Free Form HPI settings on the Practice Configuration template to copy historical Free Form HPI details to the current encounter. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open the Intake - Cardiology template. Select the Reason for Visit panel. In the left reason for visit pane, click Freeform HPI. The Free Form HPI template opens. Select Copy Forward. Note: If HPI content exists on the Free Form HPI template, the system alerts you that existing findings are overwritten if you select an HPI to copy. Freeform HPI The Copy Forward Free Form HPI Histories template opens with the Free Form HPI entries from the last three years in the grid, with the most recent encounters listed first. Set Up HPIs to Appear in the Reason for Visit

You can set up the History of Present Illness (HPI) to appear in the reason for visit. A practice can configure the Reason for Visit panel using the Framework Content system template. For more information on the reason for visit configuration, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the latest Framework Content System Template for NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. From the File menu, select System \ Practice Template. The Select Template window opens. In the Show section, select All. To open the Framework Content template, double-click Framework Content. Select Specialty and select a specialty from the list. Expand the Reason for Visit panel. In Filter, select the all option. Select the reason for visit linked to the appropriate History of Present Illness (HPI), which you want to add to the all list in the Reason for Visit list.
