Billing in a Behavioral Health Encounter

The NextGen® Behavioral Health Suite template set includes two areas that enable a provider to submit services codes to the Superbill. Which area you bill from is determined by the template used in your workflow. The two areas for NextGen® Behavioral Health Suite billing are: The Charges panel, available 3.5 (or later) version templates The Finalize template Once the charges are calculated and submitted to the Superbill, the NextGen® Enterprise PM receives the charges for the services with a Start and End Time, a CPT® or HCPCS service code, a diagnosis code, as well as the date of service and the name of the provider of service. NextGen® Enterprise PM requires this data to be able to evaluate whether the total of the duration times may be "rolled up." Users can view the submitted items and make any necessary updates. As a Primary Care Provider (PCP), you can switch between the Behavioral Health templates and Primary Care templates within NextGen® Enterprise EHR. To open a PCP template, you need to configure the Program and templates in the BH Foundation Configuration template and client Demographic (BH) template. Open the Packet Navigation (BH) template. In Program, select the program your practice has created for Primary Care. The landing page your practice has configured for the Primary Care program opens. To open a template or document from your Packet Navigation, select the respective link. When the template opens, Behavioral Health is the default specialty and General Medical Exam is the default visit type. In Specialty and Visit Type, select the appropriate option from the list. Optional: To open additional primary care templates, use the tabs and sub-navigation links. Note: If you use the BH Packet Navigation to change templates, the system updates the Specialty and Visit Type from Primary C

Open Templates and Documents

You can open multiple templates and documents from one landing page using the Packet Navigation (BH) template. Note: When you open a template using a link from the Packet Navigation (BH) template, Packet Navigation is automatically saved to the encounter after closing it. You can configure the Packet Navigation on the BH Foundation Configuration template. For more information, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the Configuration Guide for NextGen® Behavioral Health Suite. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. For an encounter, select Open Template.The Select Template window opens. In the Medical Records tab, select Packet Navigation (BH).The Packet Navigation (BH) template opens. Select a Program.The landing page configured for the selected program opens. Packet Navigation template In the Time Entry Navigation sidebar, select Billing Time Entry, and then enter the start time. Packet/Intake Prescreen/Regulatory Items Configuration

The Packet/Intake Prescreen/Regulatory Items Configuration panel enables you to build program-specific landing pages for your staff. You can use landing pages to optimize practice workflow by grouping electronic health record content into a single page for easy reference. You can create separate landing pages for each program within the practice. You can configure templates and documents on a central landing page or homepage (Packet Navigation). There are three types of landing pages or packet navigation that you can configure. Packet enables you to create program-specific landing pages or home pages that contain commonly used templates and documents for the selected program. Intake Prescreen is generally used during your intake or admission process and contains templates and documents commonly used leading up to and during initial intake. Configuring BH Foundation Settings

You can use the BH Foundation Configuration system template to configure settings for the NextGen® Behavioral Health Suite templates. The BH Foundation Configuration template is the central location for configuring settings for the Behavioral Health Suite templates. You can configure various elements of your BH content to accommodate your business workflow and requirements. Some items can be configured at the practice level, program level, for specific regulatory boards and in some instances, even for a specific location. You can configure different Tabs & Sub Navigation, Packet Configuration, and Intake Prescreen panels by the following: Program enables you to configure separate navigation and landing pages for each of your programs.
