Defining Default Folders

The default folders on the appliance have different purposes. Some folders are used by Mirth® Connect while others are used by services on the appliance. Note: The inbox, outbox, and processed folders are default locations used by the test channel that comes with your Mirth® Appliance by NextGen Healthcare. Deleting any of these folders causes the test channel to fail. You can use the default folders for your own channels, or you can create folders. The current path appears in the gray rectangle above the Selection links in the /folders window. Use this path when referencing the directory in a Mirth® Connect channel. You can view and manage user-accessible folders (directories). /folders window In the Control Panel, select Folders > Browse. To add a folder to the current directory, select the New Folder link. To open a folder, select the folder name link. Note: To go up one folder level, select Back Arrow. To upload a file to the current folder, select the Upload link. To delete files in the folder, select the files by using any of the following options, and then select the Delete link: To select all the files in a folder, select the All link. To clear the checkboxes for all the files, select the None link. To reverse the selected or cleared checkboxes, select the Invert link. Message Migration If you are upgrading to Mirth® Connect by NextGen Healthcare 3.x from Mirth® Connect by NextGen Healthcare2.x, your existing messages will not be upgraded. This includes any queued messages that have not been sent, as well as any historical message records. After upgrading, Mirth® Connect 2.x messages will not be available in the Mirth® Connect Administrator, but will remain in the database in the OLD_MESSAGE table. Any messages that were queued at the time of upgrade from 2.x will not be processed. If you would like to ensure these messages are processed, we recommend flushing out all queued messages before upgrading: For Non-Polling Channels Pause the channel Wait for all queued messages to finish processing For Polling Channels Edit the channel, export the source connector (to have a backup) Change the source connector type to Channel Reader Redeploy the channel Wait for all queued messages to finish processing Edit the channel again, restore the exported source co

Manage Mirth® Connect

You can send a test message through Mirth® Connect to confirm that it is working and that email delivery is properly configured. You can also configure the maximum heap size and adjust the database logging levels. One limitation on message throughput is the amount of disk writes that Mirth® Connect's database must perform while processing each message. Reducing the amount of message data retained can increase throughput and decreases memory usage as well as disk usage. Production level guarantees that if an unexpected server failure occurs, any incomplete (received, but not yet fully processed) messages will be automatically recovered and processed on restart. If increased performance is needed, you can to reduce this to the Raw level, which only retains the original raw message prior to being processed by any transformer steps. Incomplete messages can still be recovered on failure, but must be done so by manually reprocessing them. Keep in mind that using destination queues requires at least Production level. Configuring Mail

The Mail Configuration window allows you to enter email notification addresses. From the menu, select System > Mail to access the mail configuration settings. The Mail Configuration window enables you to set one or more email notification addresses in the Notification Email Address field. To set more than one address, separate each recipient by a comma. Enter an email address in the Default From Address field to identify messages sent from the appliance. The default from address is alert@mirthappliance.com. When the SMTP Relay Host field is blank (the default value), the Mirth® Appliance by NextGen Healthcare attempts direct mail delivery. This setting is the most reliable, but requires outbound network access on TCP port 25. If your network restricts outbound SMTP traffic you need to talk to your network administrator either to open access for the appliance or to provide you with an authorized SMTP relay host.
