Estimate Patient Cost Fields

The following table describes the fields that display patient and guarantor demographic information, payers, providers, locations, and service types for estimating patient cost in the Estimate Patient Cost window. Field Description Enables you to select a person or patient record. If you have not selected a person or patient record, a search window opens where you can select the patient or person. If you have already selected a patient or person record, the Modify Patient Information window opens. Opens the account, patient chart, or patient balance based on your selection. The menu displays the following options: Account: Opens the patient's account profile. If the selected patient does not have an account, the demographic information opens where you can create the account profile for the selected patient or person. Chart: Opens the chart of the selected patient. If the person does not have a chart, the demographic information opens and you can create a chart for the person. Patient B

Generate Cost Estimation

The default information appearing on the Estimate Patient Cost window depends on the source of the cost estimation. You can specify the necessary data such as provider information, service location, service type, service items, and units of service items required for estimating cost. Additionally, you can keep notes and assign diagnosis codes. In NextGen® Enterprise PM, select Est Patient Cost on the toolbar. The People Lookup window opens. Double-click to select a person. The Modify Person Information window opens. You can make necessary changes to the person record and then select Ok. The Estimate Patient Cost window opens for the selected person or patient. On the Estimate Patient Cost window, to select the payer in the Payer Selection section, do one of the following: Note: Payer Selection is a required field. Cost Estimation for an Appointment

You can estimate the patient cost for an appointment with any status such as Expected, Kept, Cancelled, No Show, and Pending. You can also do cost estimation for an appointment with event SIM codes or an appointment with an encounter. Note: Cost estimation can only be completed for one appointment at a time. You can initiate cost estimation from the following: The Appointment Lookup window. You can open the Appointment Lookup window by selecting Appointments on the toolbar or selecting Tasks > Lookup > Appointments. Using the search criteria, you can find the appointment list of a specific person or patient. You can right-click the desired appointment and select Estimate Patient Cost. The appointment book. To open an appointment from the appointment book, you can select ApptBook on the toolbar or select Tasks > Appt Book. View and Resubmit Cost Estimations

You can create a cost estimation using the values of an existing cost estimate. You can open a cost estimate from the history or from the Clinical History/Notes tab in the patient's chart. You can also search for a specific cost estimate using the cost estimate ID. You can open a cost estimate and modify your selections for the following on the Estimate Patient Cost window. Payer and self-pay selections Rendering provider, location, and service type Service line items Estimation notes Diagnosis codes Open the Estimate Patient Cost window. To open a cost estimate, do one of the following: In History, select to select a cost estimate. In Cost Estimate ID, type a part of the cost estimate ID. The estimates that match the entered value appear. Note: The search displays cost estimates for patient or person records that are part of the inclusion list. Cost estimates for patients or people that are part of the exclusion list are not displayed in the search. Select the desired cost estimate. N

Report Filters

Filter 1 in the configuration options contains the following filters. Filter Description Default Value Cost Estimate Date Displays cost estimates based on the cost estimate date completed between the specific period or specific start and end dates. Period: Today Start date: current date End date: current date Transaction Date Displays cost estimates based on the transaction date completed between the specific period or specific start and end dates. Period: (None)Start and end dates are not available for selection. Unposted Transaction Displays cost estimates based on transactions that have not yet been posted. You can select Include or Exclude unposted transactions.
