Verifying Insurance for an Encounter

Insurance must be verified when: The Insurance Selection window is a step in the Autoflow checkout process. The Insurance must be confirmed before proceeding to the next check-out Autoflow sequence option is enabled in Practice Preferences > AutoFlow. The user is in the checkout process with Autoflow. The application requires that you verify the insurance by selecting either Yes or No in the Insurance Confirmed field on the Encounter Insurance Selection window during the AutoFlow sequence. A Yes answer permits you to continue with the Autoflow process. A No answer prevents you from advancing to the next step in the checkout process. In addition, the application displays a message that states that the insurance must be verified. If the insurance is not verified and you select the AutoFlow arrow to navigate to a different window in the Autoflow sequence, or if you cancel out of the Encounter Insurance Selection window, the application generates a significant event (if the significant eve

AutoFlow Practice Preferences

Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. Select Admin > Preferences > Practice. The Practice Preferences window opens. To select the AutoFlow Sequences for check-in and check-out, in the respective sections, do the following: In the <All Locations> row, select the AutoFlow Sequence you use at all locations in the practice. In the location specific rows, select the sequence you use at each location in the practice, if different from the <All Locations> sequence. Note: A location-specific sequence overrides the <All Locations> sequence. If you want users to have the option to return to AutoFlow after completing all tasks, select the Enable AutoFlow button after workable tasks have been completed checkbox. When the checkbox is selected, the Autoflow button is made available in the Work Tasks window. If you want users to confirm the patient’s insurance during the Autoflow process, select the Insurance must be confirmed before proceeding to the next autoflow sequence checkbox. Set Up AutoFlow Practice Preferences

In File Maintenance, select Master Files > System > Practices. Double click on a practice to open Modify Practice Information window. Select Preferences, and then select AutoFlow in Practice Preferences. To apply an autoflow Sequence for check-in or when a user creates an encounter, do one of the following in AutoFlow Sequences for menu option "Check-in/Create Encounter" section: For all locations, select a sequence in the <All Locations> row. For a specific location, select a sequence in the location's row. To apply an AutoFlow Sequence for check-out, repeat the previous step in AutoFlow Sequences for menu option "Checkout" section. If you want users to have the option to return to AutoFlow after completing all tasks, select Enable AutoFlow button after workable tasks have been completed. You can select an autoflow sequence that contains a series of actions for processing encounters during check-in and check-out processes from the AutoFlow practice preference. You can apply a sequence to all locations or to individuals. You can also set default user preferences for autoflow that override the practice-level settings. To open the Practice Preferences window, do one of the following: In NextGen® Enterprise PM, select Admin > > Preferences > Practice. In File Maintenance, select Master Files > System > Practices, double-click a practice name, and then select Preferences. From Preference List, select AutoFlow. To apply an autoflow sequence for a check-in, a new encounter, or a checkout, select a location or all locations. If appropriate, select Enable AutoFlow button after workable tasks have been completed and Insurance must be confirmed before proceeding to the next autoflow sequence. Run Autoflow from an Encounter

Before you begin Ensure that the Estimate Patient Cost item is included in the autoflow. You can run the autoflow for an encounter during check-in and/or check-out process for a person or patient. Open NextGen® Enterprise PM and do one of the following: Select Encounter on the toolbar. Select Tasks > Lookup > Encounters. The Encounter Lookup window opens. Use the search criteria and select Find. The encounters that match the search criteria display under Encounter List. From the Encounter List, right-click on an encounter and do one of the following: Select Checkin from the menu to start the check-in. Select Checkout from the menu to start the check-out. The first window configured in the autoflow opens. Select AutoFlow to open the next window in the sequence. Continue with the autoflow until the Estimate Patient Cost window opens. The Estimate Patient Cost window opens if it is configured in the sequence. The Estimate Patient Cost window displays the encounter details such as the enco
